Multi-award winning author Mrs. D with colorful adorable drawings by Chanoa completed a seven book series of funny and charming books about the mischievous, cute, lovable mouse that was born just behind the kitchen in a Florida hospital is great. This is the third book in the series. It is about Carlo who has two seemingly uncontrollable desires: eating food and searching for adventure. His parents needed to teach him rules to keep him safe. Carlo ignored them. Like many human kids, he could not understand the need for rules. Carlo the mouse wanders around the hospital, but when he is seen, the hospital staff becomes frightened and chases after him, including the manager, the cook, and the exterminator. The book is filled with funny events such as both the hospital manager and the cook are scared of mice, and the cook faints; the manager tries to catch Carlo with a stapler; and Carlo would not go near the mouse trap set to catch him with tempting cheese because he wanted parmesan cheese which was not in the trap. The description of these acts are very funny for children, but not for Carlo who thought, maybe Mama’s rules were right. Maybe he should be careful. Children will learn from this enjoyable book about rules; and they will identify with Carlo, like him a lot, and enjoy reading his adventure or having it read to them.
