Coming from a two-parent working class home, Phadila had love when money came up short. Phadila is a laid back sister. Strong and independent yet weak when it comes to love and relationships. Phadila gets involved with a street hustle, telling herself that “her family needed stuff.” The sad thing about living in the urban lifestyle is that the lifestyle eventually catches up and turns on you. While questioning her life, life takes a turn for Phadila and her family. Turning the pains of the street to success of family, relationships and a career, Yashica M. Smith’s “Carry the Day” is a success story of a woman from the ‘neighborhood’ with drive and passion for success, by any means necessary. I liked this story and plot because it was realistic.
