i grew up with this book in my family. my sisters and i would race to find goldbug - great fun. there are so many kinds of illustrations and silly scenarios that you can get lost in the pages. i bought a copy for myself and one for my boss who just had a baby. it's a great classic - not a typical storybook, but more like a mix of a story and activity book.

This wonderful story by Richard Scarry stands the test of time. I remember reading my brother's copy of it as kids 25+ years ago and am enjoying it just as much now with my four year old (daughter!)! We love finding Goldbug on each page and you can't even count the number of actual and adorable made up "things that go" in the story. This is more than a mere picture book. It also has entertaining stories woven into it--like Officer Flossy being in pursuit of that rascal Dingo Dog (and the kids seem to enjoy the suspense and wondering if Flossy will really catch him) and the story of the Pig Family and their various adventures and stops along their way. My daughter has favorite things about each page and if you look closely you will even find a dose of humor for parents reading with their children. The illustrations are classic Richard Scarry and so colorful they make kids beg for just one more page before the lights go out!

Liam adores this - Goldbug is the first word he says in the morning, and his last at night. The Pig family travel down the road on their way to a picnic, encountering a hilarious set of vehicles and events along the way. As you'd expect, every page is chock full of imaginative details to notice, and friendly little goldbug is peeking out just waiting to be found.

Lots of moving things in this book and a story to boot: The pig family has an adventure. Like all Richard Scarry books, this one is another timeless classic.

We spent hours looking for Gold Bug in this one. My son liked the story, but mostly he loved looking at all the pictures.

My cousin gave a copy of this book to my first born, & we've had to buy a new copy each time a new child came along because every copy was worn out! Even very wiggly children will study this delightfull book over and over.

I adored these books when I was a child, and I think I learned a fair amount from them as well. Reading, I mean.

A classic. Lots of information about every type of vehicle, and fun hunting for Goldbug on each page.

This is my three-year-old son's favorite book from the time that he was one! This is his third copy of the book. It's not that the binding is that bad; toddlers are really hard on their favorite books! Richard Scarry's books are the best; I've even learned names of construction vehicles from this book. :)

This was one of mine and my brothers favorite books growing up and is now my son and daughters. We would race to see who could find Gold Bug on each page before the other and now my kids do the same.

This is far and away my 17 month old son's favorite book. My husband loved this book as a child, purchased it for our son, and now he loves it as well. The vast amount of cars and trucks to look at excites my child every day.

My nephews loved this book when they were young children - they loved all of Richard Scary books. I remembered it and purchased this book for my own grandson. As a two-year-old, we would have to hide the book so he wouldn't beg for it to be read and read over and over again! Every little boy should be read Richard Scary's books.

When we first read this book from the library, I was curious as to whether my oldest son (then 2 yrs old) would like it. It seemed very busy to me, a little hard to follow and kind of old fashioned, but he loves cars and trucks so I gave it a shot. It now is among his top 10 books - even at 6 yrs old. His younger brother (3 yrs old) is now a fan. This book gets read over and over in our house. Richard Scarry's humor is timeless and after reading his books, my boys have developed quite an imagination. My oldest has come up with the most creative ideas for vehicles he's going to invent when he gets older. This book will stay in the family for generations I'm sure.

This is a book that my children love and now my grandchildren are enchanted with it as well! Hours of fun looking for Gold Bug and Lowly Worm! Both my 4 year old grandson and my 6 year old grandson love looking at this either together or by themselves! They look at all the pictures and they make up stories about what some of the characters are doing. The big one likes to read it to the little one, which is sooooo cute! I can remember my own children spending hours with this book when they were little - timeless!

My 2 year old LOVES searching for Goldbug on each page. We've gone through it so many times he has it memorizes and proudly points him out as soon as I turn the page.
