Once upon a time, I loved him.
He broke me and he didn't even know it.
I ran from him.
He didn't chase me.
He never needed to, because he knew I'd come back.
He was right.
Death brought me home to him.
Drop dead gorgeous and filthy-mouthed with a smile that turns saints to sinners.
A casanova to his core.
My ex-best friend.
And the bad boy whose reputation precedes him—the same reputation I'm tasked with turning to gold... Or so they think.
Revenge is a dish best served cold, after all...

About the Author
Emma Hart is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of over twenty novels and has been translated into several different languages. She first put fingers to keys at the age of eighteen after her husband told her she read too much and should write her own. Four years later, she's still figuring out what he meant when he said she 'read too much.' She prides herself on writing smart smut that's filled with dry wit, snappy, sarcastic comebacks, but lots of heart... And sex. Sometimes, she kills people. (Disclaimer: In books. But if you bug her, she'll use your name for the victims.) Good story. Great support characters. Sexy hero but as a couple they were tiresome. Probably should end up together----who else could put up with them? Usually love everything she writes.
Actual 3.5 stars. Emma Hart is one of my favorite authors and she knows how to write a seriously funny rom-com. I adore her Burke Brothers and Stripped series and both those series had a brilliant blend of humor and sexy romance with great characters that kept me hooked from page one. Casanova is a great read jam-packed full of Emma's signature sassy wit. The banter between Lani and Brett is hysterical and I was laughing my head off while reading this book. Lani had left for California over a misunderstanding the night her and Brett graduated. One of the things I loved about this second chance romance was how both mains could now acknowledge their immaturity and appreciate if they had just spoken to one another they wouldn't have spent eight years apart. The overall premise of this story was flimsy and lacking depth and that was my biggest issue with it. The plot was also very predictable and it lacked a nail-biting climactic moment. Brett was portrayed as a Casanova who didn't give a crap about anyone, but he never really presented as such. He bed-hopped, that was blatant, but every other demonstration of his character led me to believe he wasn't the bad boy he was portrayed to be. It didn't take much for me to fall for him! Lani was a great female lead - independent, and career driven, feisty, and opinionated, but she had a good heart. Without a shadow of a doubt the snarky banter is the star of this show. Prepare to laugh your socks off! If you enjoy well written light-hearted romantic comedy or you are a fan of Emma Hart then you should definitely pick this one up. I would like to thank the author and Inkslinger PR for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Casanova by Emma Hart is a standalone romance told in dual POV. It is a second-chance romance of sorts packed full of emotion, regret, redemption and of course, steam! Brett Walker is the reason Lani left whiskey in her dust so many years ago and now she is back. He has a reputation that is sitting in the gutter, making the gutter look bad, and despite Lani's better judgement, it is now up to her to improve his reputation. Brett never knew why Lani left without a word all those years ago but it has affected him and his outlook on life and everything else in such a way that he is now finding he has to redeem his character to the one person he never thought he'd have to. Can these two independent and stubborn individuals move beyond the mistakes from the past, work through the issues of today, and build a future together for themselves, or is it just a doomed fling from the start? With betrayals and deceit mixed in with some healthy doses of lust and passion this book will have you planning a trip to the keys in search of the small town life (and ok, maybe in search of a Brett of your own too). Another phenomenal, well-paced, well-written romantic read from Emma Hart, a must-read author for me. Enjoy!
Friends to lovers, enemies to lovers. Emma Hart gives us another unique book. Lani and Brett are full of snark, wit, and insane sexual chemistry. Casanova is funny, sexy, and has the Emma Hart stamp all over it, with quick one liners, sassy women, and hot men. I had so much FUN reading this book, and I can't wait to see what comes next.
Casanova is a story of second chance romance. Once close friends became distant because he unknowingly hurt her. When Brett hurt Lani she fled to California and became a well known freelance journalist. Brett was hurt by her sudden unexplained disappearance. Lani returns to Whiskey Key for her grandmother's funeral. She has no intentions of seeing Brett Walker while she is there. Fate has different plans for her. She needs to write an article about him. Their interactions are full of snark and barb until the truth clears the mutually hurt feelings and broken hearts. I love the author's writing style. This book is full of laugh out loud humor, sizzling moments and second chances to get it right. Dig into this book and watch Lani bring out Brett's inner Casanova.
Emma Hart is always brilliant with her books, but with Casanova I was feeling it in a whole new level. Casanova left me on a high of words that I don’t ever want to come down from. It was every little part that made up the book that made it so perfect. The writing as a whole gave me chills and brought on the feels like never before. The characters and the development of the book gave me the best experience. This is my favorite Emma Hart book. That is serious right there, because I have read all her books and I’ve loved a lot of them. Once I read Casanova, I knew this would be the one book that changed everything. Lani is a freelance journalist and I love that! Every time there is a journalist in a story I am automatically hooked. This girl was strong and brave and doesn’t let anyone control her. She is one of my favorite heroines. She was a tough girl and sometimes she was too much. She spoke her mind and didn’t let Brett walk all over her. Brett. He was a seriously arrogant and cocky man, and not just a little, but full on. He was difficult at the beginning. He was hard and harsh. I didn’t know if he could redeem himself but oh was I wrong. He redeemed himself far more than is possible. About 50% in I was more feeling things to the max. My poor heart was too full it could burst. Brett caused these full blown emotions out of me that I didn’t think I could feel. Casanova will just be one of my top books I have ever read. It will stay engraved in my heart and Brett will be right there with my favorite book boyfriends. Emma Hart creates a scene that you don’t want to get out of. I would love to live in this book.
