I purchased one of these cookbooks for each of our children for Christmas and bought one for myself as well. The recipes require basic ingredients found in my kitchen and I love that they are all from scratch! This is healthy, simple, yet delicious eating. I also enjoyed the history and information about cast iron cooking and have passed this title on to friends and family. I chose this cast iron cookbook over others because the recipes are basic for everyday eating and not just for special occasions. Although I must admit that everything I have cooked so far I would not hesitate to serve for company! This makes a wonderful gift along with a cast iron skillet and Duncan pot grips. One grip is needed for the long handle and one for the smaller assistance handle.

This book is easy to read, well laid out with everything you need and light enough to travel. The very best recipe is the Warm pear ginger cornmeal upsidedown cake. Truly hits all the senses for perfection!

My husband and I got this cookbook along with our cast-iron skillet, and we've been enjoying it immensely. Some of the recipes are simple, and some are more complex, but they're all laid out clearly and explained in detail--and every one we've tried has been delicious. I recommend the chicken with peppers and kalamata olives, and my husband loves any and all of the pork recipes. The list of suppliers for some of the rarer ingredients, with websites and addresses, is a great bonus. If you want to learn to really cook with your cast-iron, this book is the place to start.

We have tried some of the breakfast recipes so far and they were great! They called for common items, the steps are easy to follow, and the results are wonderful. We will definately make more items and will be a standard cookbook to turn to when wanting to use the cast iron skillet.
