Caszandra: Touchstone Part 3 by Andrea K Höst

Part 3 of the Touchstone Trilogy.

Cassandra Devlin doesn’t know what she's for. But she knows she's running out of time.

Since Cass was rescued from the abandoned world of Muina, the Aussie teen has proven more than useful to the people of Tare. Expeditions to their home world no longer end in slaughter. The teaching city of Kalasa has been unlocked. After years of searching for answers, they are starting to make progress.

But space is tearing itself apart. Ionoth attack in ever-greater numbers. And "the useful stray" has been injured so many times that the Tarens hesitate to use her for fear of losing her.

With one particular Taren now her most important person, Cass is determined to contribute everything she can, and hopes to find some answers of her own. What is the link between Muina and Earth? Why are the reclusive Nurans so interested in 'rescuing' her? And what role in the crisis do the inhuman Cruzatch play?

Can Cass keep herself together long enough to find out?

This book was good and had some great scenes. Definitely sticking with the overall too-much-filler theme, but continued friendship and trust building, as well as Muina settlement. As much as I loved the series, I was disappointed on two fronts: there was very little relationship development before moving forward another huge leap. I disliked the new characters introduced bc the previous book been all about the buildup, and then we immediately move away from that. Secondarily, I was very disappointed in the lack of closure in terms of Cruzatch, as well as the Gaia link. Nothing?

POSITIVES: I def think author has potential. Story premise itself, is quite creative. Negatives: Reader was overwhelmed repeatedly with a good bit of redundant scenes and waaaaaaaaay too much useless information in all three books. The redundancy and overload of information seriously detracted from the story overall and made this series almost painful to read at times. Also, at times it seemed author's only goal was just to make book longer? The 3 book series could easily have been condensed by half and been a much better read.

Well written, deep characters, amazing detail of the worlds. I imagine the author misses her friends now that the series is complete. Well done and thank you. I so enjoyed an entertaining, uplifting saga.

Ok, I have to be honest if only to keep the author top shelf. Therefore I have to say that Books 1&2 were always on the runaway rollercoaster enjoyable level, this one wasnt. It fell a bit flat and boring as it got caught spinning wheels on the mundane. I didnt need flat out excitement, but I needed SOME. But I still remain in awe of the writing ability of the author especially after learning she is self published! And since books 1 & 2 were so above and beyond, I absolutely remain a fan and look forward to tasting more from this writer. Dale M. Baranoski

I loved the last 2 books of the touchstone series, and this 1 is no different. At a few points it is a tad slow but it jumps rite back 2 the story the very next second. This is a major pg-turner. Very nice and long too. Exactly 887 pgs minus all the title pgs and character lists ect. Very different, but wonderful in its way. READ!!!!!!
