I actually started this series on Book 2, Cat Got Your Cash, and I loved it so much I just had to read the one that started it all. Cat Got Your Diamonds by Julie Chase is the first book in the Kitty Couture Mystery series and this series is such a treat to read !! It doesn't matter that I read the first two out of order because as soon as you start reading you are completely engrossed in the story. Chase's writing makes it so easy to become a part of the story. Your imagination takes off while you read and you can see everything that you are reading !! You will fall in love with Lacy and want to work in her store. She owns Furry Godmother which is a store that makes accessories and outfits for pets !! And Lacy makes they all herself. Imagine one of your favorite clothing stores and picture all the things in it are for pets to wear.....how fun is that !!! You can also respect Julie in the way that even though she comes from money, she wants to handle the business without the help of her family money. She is a very independent and determined woman .... and she can take care of herself. Even when there is an intruder in her shop, someone is trying to scare her and the sexy Detective that all the women in town are drooling over is trying to protect her, she remains strong. You will appreciate the relationship she has with her parents. And even though her mother comes from old money and has extravagant dinner parties, she is still a down to earth mother....most of the time. And her father is like most fathers in that he wants his daughter to be happy. They are there for her no matter what and as you read you can see the love that they all share. And the ladies in town and the pets that they have that need attention from Lacy's store are a HOOT !! I know dressing up dogs is no big deal, thats been done for a while. But chickens and llamas ?? And there are rivals among the ladies and who can outdo who and which pets will have the best outfits !! The ladies in town, including her own mother, are going to keep Lacy's store a float. I am in love with this series and am very glad that Book 3, Cat Got Yoru Secrets is in my pile to read. I cannot wait to see what Furry Godmother has in store next........

4.5 out of 5 stars actually. Cat Got Your Diamonds is the first book in the Kitty Couture mystery series by Julie Chase and it's delightful! I've been meaning to read it ever since it came out last spring and I finally was able to do so after finishing my latest round of blog tours. It did not disappoint! I love Lacy. She's kind of quirky, sometimes absent-minded, and just totally lovable. I love her spunky spirit, her go-get-em attitude, and her stubbornness. Her interactions with Detective Oliver are pretty great as well. I like the two of them together. :) The other characters are fun as well. They're mostly well-rounded and developed. I'm sure the author deliberately left some things out in order to expand on them in later books in the series. The plot line moves along at a decent pace. I never felt like the pace was dragging, but nor did I feel like the story was so fast-paced that I couldn't keep up. I enjoyed the plot twists along the way. I didn't have an inkling of the villain until he was revealed. Even then, I was completely surprised. I can't wait to read the second one in another week or so for a blog tour to find out how all of it is going to affect Lacy and her business! I love the New Orleans setting. I also love that it's set in the Garden District and not just the Quarter which is where so many TV shows and books are set when they talk about New Orleans. The descriptions of the settings are lovely. All in all it's a delightful read and a fun first book to the series! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it didn't have an emotional "hook" for me - that little bit of extra pizzazz that will push it up to a 5 in my book. But it's still a wonderful and fun book!

Title: Cat Got Your Diamonds - Kitty Couture Mystery Book 1 Author: Julie Chase Published: 11/15/2016 Publisher: Crooked Lane Books Pages: 304 Genre: Mystery, Thrillers & Suspense Sub Genre: Amateur Sleuths; Animals; Cozy Mystery; Women Sleuths ISBN: 9781629538426 ASIN: B01H02DOU Reviewer: DelAnne Reviewed For: NetGalley Rating: 4.5 Stars . I received a copy of Cat Got Your Diamonds from NetGalley and the publishers in exchange for my honest review. From the Publisher: Grandeur and opulence are everything in the famed New Orleans Garden District where pets are family and no bling is too big. Opening Furry Godmother, pet boutique and organic treat bakery, is Lacy Marie Crocker’s dream come true--until the glitter gun used to make her Shih Tzu tutus becomes a murder weapon. And Lacy becomes public enemy #1. Now Detective Jack Oliver is hounding Lacy, and her Furry Godmother investor wants out before his name is tarnished by association. To make matters worse, a string of jewel heists with suspicious ties to the murder case has New Orleans residents on edge. To save her dream, Lacy must take a stand, put her keen eyes to work, and unravel what really happened at her shop that night. But can Lacy sniff out the killer cat burglar in time to get her tail-raising designs on the catwalk? My Review: With the magic of New Orleans as a backdrop and a strong and determined heroine this story gets off to a great start. Standing up for herself and wanting independence from her wealthy and controlling family guides Lacy to strike out on her own. Then a murder in her shop with inks to a recent rash of robberies in the Garden District, the suspicion of police and town's people and loss of funding have Lacy wondering how long she will have her shop, then her freedom and finally her life when a killer decides she is getting to close. Witty dialogues, a well thought out plot that runs smoothly, and characters one can identify with make Cat Got Your Diamonds a must read for all lovers of animals and cozy mysteries. I will definitely be on the lookout for more books about Lacy and the Furry Godmother. My rating for the first book in the Cat Got Your Diamonds series is 4.5 out of 5 stars.

is Julie Chase's first book in her A Kitty Couture Mystery series. It is about Lacy Crocker who returned to New Orleans after a bad break up to start her own business, an upscale pet boutique. Lacy specializes in designing pet costumes and making organic pet treats. This story finds her new business in jeopardy when a man she'd sprayed with gold glitter during an attack turns up dead outside her back door. Her business investor refuses to give her any more money until her name is cleared so she starts investigating on her own much to the dismay of grumpy police detective Jack Oliver. This is a fun and easy read that even comes with a few pet treat recipes. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily writing this review.

Dollycas’s Thoughts As soon as I saw the cover for this story I knew I had to read this book! Lacy Marie Crocker owner of The Furry Godmother and she is ready to make couture garments to make your pet feel special and/or make any other pet lover green with envy. She bakes up tasty treats for pets too. She has the purrfect opportunity to show off her talents at the Animal Elegance Gala, but before that happens one of the tools of her trade connects with a man’s head. The man had broke into her shop but she didn’t deliver the deadly blow. Now she just has to prove it as she is Detective Jack Oliver prime suspect. Is the murder tied to a bunch of jewelry thefts in the Garden District? Lacy needs to find the real killer and try to figure out why she ended up in the middle of this crime spree. That puts her right in the cross-hairs of the killer. The story takes place in New Orleans and pets of all types, dogs, cats, turtles and even llama seem to be pretty popular in the area. Not just normal curl up and pet animals either, several can perform, and Lacy creates their costumes. I love Lacy and the way she harnesses her creativity in her pet apparel. With a vet as a father she grew up around animals, but this is not the career he parents originally envisioned. I must say it seems to suit her to a tee even though her wealthy partner pulls his funding until she is cleared of the murder. Detective Jack Oliver is a real pain when the story starts but by the end I was seeing him in a different light. We also meet Chase, a man from Lacy’s past, easy on the eyes and very interested in Lacy. I love a good romantic triangle. We meet several other characters in this first installment and many make good suspects. The dialogue between the characters is funny and realistic. The story moves right along at a great pace. The author’s writing not only tells this cat – ivating mystery, her words create some vivid imagery too. She also sets up a fantastic twist that caught me totally by surprise. This is a wonderful start for this series. Do you pamper your pets? This is a cozy for you. Heck, if you like your cozies with an animal or two or more, you will love this story. I am already looking forward to book #2.

A great start to a new series. CAT GOT YOUR DIAMONDS by Julie Chase The First Kitty Couture Mystery After a nasty breakup with her louse of a fiance Lacy Crocker returns home to the Garden District of New Orleans. Lacy's followed her dreams and opened Furry Godmother, a pet boutique and organic treat bakery. She not only bakes all of the delicious treats, but designs the pet clothing as well. Several burglaries have been occurring in the neighborhood, but Lacy feels relatively safe-the thieves are after high end jewelry, not glittery tutus or liver treats, no matter how well made. When a disreputable man scopes out her shop, Lacy is a bit unnerved and downright terrified when she finds him inside after hours! When the police arrive they find the man dead and consider Lacy Suspect #1! Now her investor has pulled his backing and Lacy is desperate to clear her name and keep her business going. Despite the continued growling of a good looking detective to let the police handle matters, Lacy doggedly investigates all while trying to keep her business afloat, dealing with her high society mama, trying to get her cat back from her ex, and not getting killed! Julie Chase has brought the Garden District of New Orleans alive. Bringing together the wealth and society demands of this exclusive district to a hardworking woman determined to make her own way without the help of her family's money or name Chase has created a likeable new protagonist and a world of well developed, interesting characters. I am thrilled to discover Furry Godmother! While Lacy's custom designed clothing may not be on my shopping list, I certainly would love to visit her store to buy some Tiny Tuna Tarts. Since that trip to a fictional store is not possible, Chase graciously shares the recipe so that my furkids, and yours, need not be deprived! Filled with humor and fun CAT GOT YOUR DIAMONDS provides an intriguing mystery and great start to a new series. Chase ingeniously ends the book with a perfect segue to her next Kitty Couture Mystery, and now I'm dying to see what happens next! FTC Disclosure – The publisher sent me a digital ARC provided through NetGalley, in the hopes I would review it.

In Cat Got Your Diamonds, the first book in A Kitty Couture Mystery Series, author Julie Chase weaves an intriguing cozy mystery tale that follows the amateur sleuth adventures of pet boutique owner Lacy Crocker, when she finds herself a murder suspect after she stumbles upon a dead body in her pet boutique. Set in the Garden District section of New Orleans, Louisiana, fashion designer Lacy Crocker moved back home from Washington D.C. after breaking up with her cheating ex-fiance Pete, and opened Furry Godmother, a couture pet boutique and organic gourmet treat bakery. Lacy's business is starting to get noticed and taking off, but when she stumbles upon a dead body in her shop, and one of her glitter guns is the murder weapon, Lacy suddenly finds herself a prime suspect in the murder. And to make matters worse, Mr. Tater, Lacy's store investor now wants to back out, plus there has been a series of jewelry store heists in the Garden District with possible ties to the murder, and add into the mix Detective Jack Oliver who is hounding Lacy and not very thrilled with her amateur sleuth investigation into the murder case. Nonetheless, Lacy is determined to find the real killer, clear her name, and save her business before it all goes down the drain. Cat Got Your Diamonds is a captivating and fast-paced cozy whodunit tale that has enough quirky characters, witty banter and humor, drama, danger, and intriguing twists and turns that will keep you guessing the identity of the killer cat burglar. You can't help but get caught up in the drama, calamity mayhem, and cat-n-mouse games that ensues as Lacy tries to solve the murder and clear her name. Lacy's amateur sleuth adventure unfolds with a wonderful balance of comedy, drama, and suspense that easily kept me guessing, and left me wanting more. I can't wait to read the next book in this delightful new cozy mystery series! I would be remiss if I didn't mention how much I liked the delightful pet treat recipes that were included at the end of the book, two paws up! Cat Got Your Diamonds is an entertaining cozy murder mystery that pet lovers will enjoy reading! Disclaimer: I received a copy of the book from the author / publisher in exchange for my honest review.

CAT GOT YOUR DIAMONDS is a fun cozy mystery with a bit of romance, plenty of quirky characters, and a few pet antics for the animal enthusiasts. Starring a strong, independent heroine, Chase's writing and humor really make this book shine. The heroine faces multiple challenges throughout the story, but she never gives up. Nor does she do anything crazy for the sake of staying involved in the investigation. The mystery unfolds at a good pace, with enough suspects thrown in to keep the reader guessing but not so many that they're difficult to keep track of. And although there are quite a few references to pets, their inclusion feels natural and doesn't detract from the mystery. Cozy fans are sure to enjoy this one. Disclosure: I won a free copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway.
