Catalyst doesn't quite graduate New Found Glory from the punk-pop rungs. Catalyst doesn't quite graduate New Found Glory from the punk-pop rungs. From its main aesthetic thrust to the pristine mixing and production, this is a slick and durable Drive-Thru missive, micro-tweaked for maximum Warped Tour ROI. Still, the guys in NFG have been at this a while, so a little exploration is not only understandable, it's expected. To that end, Catalyst's East Coast hardcore kickoff is welcome. Even if it's more of a genre exercise than an actual song, "Intro" illustrates the band's desire to grow within its influences, as do cuts like "All Downhill from Here," which suggests the literate tack of the Alkaline Trio, or "Truth of My Youth" and "Failure's Not Flattering," where the rousing melodic jaunt of the Get Up Kids seems to be the model. (That group's James Dewees even contributes some fizzy synthesizer to "Flattering.") As studio budgets grow, so does the scope of an album's requisite power ballad, and Catalyst is no different. Violins and violas chirp urgently in the background of "I Don't Wanna Know," and late-'90s Lillith Fair hopeful Kendall Payne resurfaces with a gorgeous supporting vocal turn behind NFG frogman Jordan Pundik. It's a great track, despite limiting lyrics ("I never cared how I dressed before/But I cared that night") of the sort that plague Catalyst's entirety. Elsewhere, beyond the occasional flirtation with drum programming, more piano, and the irresistible new wave influence in late-album standout "No News Is Good News," New Found Glory stay with their old standby blend of catchy punk-pop inflected with chunkhead metal. Highlights include "This Disaster" and "Doubt Full"; best is the absolutely unstoppable revivalist romp "Your Biggest Mistake," which should rule the half-pipe hi-fi until Hurley's fall line comes out.

This just might be the best NFG album yet!! I loved the intro!! It shows a side of the guys that we're not used to hearing... their versatility and ability to give the fans something new every time. Great harmonies and lyrics make this a must have cd!!!

Catalyst is the new and improved album by a talented, kick @$$ band--New Found Glory. This album shows that the band's sound has matured and is still changing throughout the six albums since their first E.P. This album is slightly heavier than the last, but does not change the trademark NFG sound they've always had and always will have. Most importantly, New Found Glory has not lost its brilliance throughout the years.

I truely think Catalyst is one NFG's best albums. The lyrics are honest and true and the melodies are irresistable. Once you start listening to this album, it is hard to stop. This is a must have album, even if you aren't a die-hard NFG fan.

Catalyst just continues New Found Glory's streak of excellence that the fans love. This cd is full of sing along punk tunes that you can't get out of your head. Another production from a band of talented guys that know what they want to do, and do it well. This band is so much more than just being able to pop out singles.

I've been a New Found Glory fan for 3 years, and their albums have all been really good. But lucky for all of you, Catalyst, their newest album shows New Found Glory's best work yet. So if your looking for a great Punk-rock album pick this one up, and don't forget about the album's that made them what they are today.

okay well i think that by now we all know if we are fans of nfg or not, so if you are already a fan of nfg buy this cd already!!!!!! now catalyst isnt anything ground breaking or anything but it is a good album. its a lot heavier than the bands 2002 relase sticks and sones... the biggest surpise on this cd is the mini solos and it and the new lyrics thems... dont worry they still wrote a lot of spngs about loce heart break and all that stuff that nfg is known for... but they also wrote a poiltical song called "no news is good news" about materialism and how we all are addicted to the news... and a song about not being able to sleep called "id kill to call asleep" which is a kind of funny song too... the worst part of this cd are the two ballads. i love jordans voice but he cant sing slow songs. the song ending in tragedy isnt that good because jordans voice doesnt sound good with the slower song. the other balladi dont wanna know is a lot better!!!!! the song failures not flattering and over the heas below the knees are the best songs on this ablum... like i said before if u are a nfg fan u will like this cd. although its in my oppion that NOTHING GOLD CAN STAY will always be the best nfg cd.

I believe that Catalyst, is one of the best albums that New Found Glory has produced since they formed. It was very up beat songs and along with that slow, emotional songs. Both of which seem to be New Found Glory's strong points for themselves. I recommend that if you have heard New Found Glory's music before and thought that it was okay, but weren't really a fan, u should listen/purchase this album and listen to it nonstop. That proves how awesome this album really is. Also if you have never heard of New Found Glory, you still should purchase this. I don't need to say anything about the NFG Fans because they all probably have had their copy for a while. So, yes definitely an awesome album.

I just got the new CD & omg is it sooo good! Catalyst is a great song but there are soo many other sweet songs on the CD. I really loved their "I Don't Wanna Know" Track, it's slow but soo good!I would definitly recommened this CD to anyone. If you liked the before you will love them now! If you haven't heard them before this will get you hooked!

New Found Glory never ceases to amaze me! Right when I thought it couldn't get any better after Sticks and Stones, Catalyst comes out and rocked my world. It's an amazing cd to kick off the summer with--definitely a must have for the cd collection! If you enjoy Nothing Gold Can Stay and the self titled album, you'll love this one too! Now go out and buy it to see for yourself!

A great CD to folllow Sticks and Stones.. for fans of the new Punk sound this is an awesome CD.. The killer tracks are Truth of my Youth and Failures not Flattering.. All downhill from here(there first single).. is also an awesome song.. I have read reviews that this CD mixes 80's metal with emo Punk.. and I would have to agree.. But to me thats an awesome mix.

New found glory rings out hit after hit in their newest punk pop album Catalyst. The CD consists of amazing songs from begning to end. This CD is truely one of 2004's biggest monster hits!! I recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys a blend of punk, rock, and pop! The guitars, drums, and vocals flow together like one big symphony! It is truely a master piece!

This CD is great; I can't take it out of my player. It can fit every mood and is filled with great music. The sounds are still innovative as always, and they're undoubtedly the best punk band out there today. Their music always seems to have a lasting impact on the music scene, and hopefully the splash made by this CD will reach a big audience. Check it out, it's well worth your time.
