*Catching Kate is book 1.5 and is meant to be read after Breaking Kate book 1 of The Acceptance Series*
After almost four years, Michael Matthews has come face to face with the love of his life. To say it didn't go quite as he envisioned is an understatement. Never in a million years would he have imagined that his best friend, Daniel, is the new man in Kate's life.
Once their explosive evening concludes and everyone goes their separate ways, Mike takes the time to calm down and plan his next move. If there's one thing that calms him it's Kate, even if it's just memories of her. Mike has four hours before he sees her again and gets to plead his case. Instead of sleeping, he spends his evening remembering every detail of their relationship from the beginning.
Experience Mike and Kate's love story from the start, all from Mike's point of view. Find out why he left Kate in pieces and learn just how far he'll go to make her fall in love with him all over again.

About the Author

I'm a wife, a mom and a dog lover. I'm also a taxi, problem fixer, extreme multi-tasker and my kids biggest fan in anything that they do. I love to write, so when my career suddenly derailed I turned back to my love of writing. I married my high school sweetheart... how cool is that? Margaritas and sarcasm make me happy. Chocolate makes that happiness grow exponentially. People who make me laugh are my favorite kind of people. I believe Karma is a bitch who slaps back hard and that mean people suck. I'm California born and raised, I love the beach but hate the sand. The Acceptance Series is my first series of books with more to come soon.

Um, how do u choose sides after this book? I cannot choose, so I'm Team Kate. I totally fell in love with Daniel in Breaking Kate, was madder than hell at Michael in BK, and felt so bad for Kate especially at the end of BK. Now what do I do? My heart is in pieces for Michael, after hearing his POV, but I'm still in love with Daniel. So alas, that is why I am Team Kate until I get the rest of the story.

When I started Catching Kate I was truly afraid that my loyalties would be tested and I would go from #TeamDaniel to #TeamMichael. I had fallen in love with Daniel and Kate's relationship right away especially after witnessing the way Michael treated her when tragedy had struck his family. No matter what, that wasn't acceptable in my book. Anyways-- while I am still rooting for Kate to be with Daniel in the end I have grown to not hate Michael completely.  Dee's writing and way of telling a story gives us a much better insight into Mike's POV in Catching Kate. You get to follow him from when he first met Kate up until the point where everything came to a screeching halt in Breaking Kate. I am so glad that this was in the series so that I could get the whole picture before getting to everything else. <3

If you haven't already read Breaking Kate, you need to read that one first before reading Catching Kate.  Catching Kate is told from Michaels point of view. Its his story of him and Katherine. It doesn't cross over with Breaking Kate until the end and then its only fleeting. Some things may seem the same but they are completely different because they ate told from Michaels point of view. It explains why things happened the way it did between him and Katherine and what he did in the years following their break up. When I first read Breaking Kate. It was an amazing books I couldn't wait to read the next one. And Dee Kelly didn't disappoint.  It would of been so easy for Dee to continually overlap the story of Catching Kate with Breaking Kate. But she doesn't do that, this is a completely different story. I loved it.  I love the characters in this story. After reading Breaking Kate I was definitely on team Daniel and thought Michael had a nerve for turning up. BUT after reading Catching Kate, I don't know I feel sorry for Michael. They were victims of circumstance. So I think I'm going with Team Kate. I really don't know which way this will go.  Dee has done an absolutely fantastic job with this plot, it flows effortlessly. The character and plot is so real you can imagine this in real life, which way would you choose.  So Team Daniel or Team Michael you decide, but ladies these books contain hot men.  Dee, This is amazing, fantastic and beautifully written.  I give this 5/5 stars.

First, I cannot begin to tell you how long it has taken me to write this. Quite simply this author is brilliant!! She has turned my book world upside down! I wasn't sure what to expect after Breaking Kate. I was completely #TeamDaniel. This book more than anything made Mike a lovably, flawed individual. I don't like all his choices, but I get them. This novella took the roller coater ride that was Breaking Kate and continues the crazy journey of emotions! I love this series....and I HIGHLY recommend that you read it today! I can safely say that I am more #TeamConfused than ever but I am looking forward to sorting it out with the rest of this series! Dee Kelly definitely has one beautiful series on her hands

I received a copy of Catching Kate from the author for an honest review... Catching Kate is the background of Kate and Mike's story from Breaking Kate. When I first read Breaking Kate I was totally Team Daniel (Breaking Kate is a MUST READ), but since I read Catching Kate I am now torn between the two. In the beginning of the story Michael is moving into a new neighborhood with his parents. He isn't happy about the move, and when told that there is a girl that he parents want to meet, he responds as a 7 year old boy would. Micheal goes over to meet them. "Hi, Micheal I am Katherine but everyone calls me Katie Grace, and this is my best friend Jessica. Want to come play Super Smash Brothers with us?" (Catching Kate. D. Kelly. loc 103) With those words started the beginning of a long friendship between Katie Grace, Jessica and Michael. Most of the story is how Kate and Michael developed from friends to lovers. Reading how to pair grew from friends was touching and sweet. I loved every word I read. Breaking Kate is the first book in the series and is just a must read. This novella of Catching Kate was a great background read on what happened between Michael and Katherine as they grew up. Releasing Kate is the next book and its going to continue the story of Mike, Kate and Daniel. I really can't wait to get my hands on the next one. D. Kelly is a great author

D.Kelly has a way to make you connect with the characters and makes you feel like you are right there with them going thru the emotions. i loved this story its the in between and explained alittle more about previous situations, and filled in some of the unanswered questions from Breaking Kate. also this is mikes pov on things an why he made some of the dicesions he did, and finally how he decided it was time to get his hea out of his butt. i cant wait for the next book!!

Amazing As Always By Stracey C - July 23, 2014 Dee Kelly you never cease to amaze me. Catching Kate was astounding. I love the history about Michael, you can identify with his plight, uncertainties and convictions. Michael love for Katherine is endless, a decision made in a traumatic event can always end up being regretful. I am definitely Team Michael even though I love Daniel. The emotions portrayed was heartstopping. Amazing story by Dee Kelly.

Will first love be forever love...? Kate & Jess' happily ever after is rocked by the sudden appearance of Mike at Jake and April's engagement party.  Your heart literally stops when Mike and Kate make eye contact for the first time in four years.   As a reader I could feel that split second when their past, and bad decision making on Mike's part, comes crashing down around them.  At the same time your heart is breaking for Daniel.   The novella is from Mikes POV and takes you back to where Mike, Kate, and Jess meet for the first time and the life events, good and bad,  that lead up to where this heart stopping moment takes place.   You learn how three people who where so close could be torn apart by a family tragedy and when tragedy strikes miscommunication and blame takes shape instead of rational thinking.   Mike and Kate's lifes were permenantly altered from paths they thought  they were destined for.   Michael makes his case and his bid for Kate's heart. While I beleive we've all made our minds up about who Kate belongs with (haven't we??),  I know I had to give Mike some sympathy after reading his story.  But I am still #teamdaniel.  I can't help it. Let's start this journey with me stating I'm team Daniel all the way!! Even after this amazing installment of this series.  That said let's talk about Mike, Michael, or whatever name you want to call him, I prefer jacka$$ mainly because of book one. Lol... We gain a new perspective in Catching Kate, we hear from Mike, and what made him the man whore and royal douche to women that he has become. Seeing the breakup and piecing back together of his life opened my eyes to things I missed in Breaking Kate.  Mike goes through women like he goes through underwear just to bury the pain since Katherine, and even though he jumped the gun and made the worst decision in his life at a time when he should have taken a minute to regroup, he knows he isn't or wasn't the man that Katherine, Kate needed then or may want now. He has to fix his life and what better way then by reaching out to Kate and pouring his heart out in a letter. This brings us to the engagement party and the meeting heard round the world, the worked shock doesn't seem to even begin to describe what happened when, mike, Kate, Daniel and Jess all come face to face.  It's very hard to go into a book like I did with a mindset of this is who and what I believe and to come out with me questioning my choice of sides I've chosen. I'm still very much team Daniel but Mike has earned a spot for sure. I loved this series since the beginning when I stumbled upon it, I loved this book as a 1.5 and can't wait for the next one to see where do they all go from here.

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review in conjunction with the Release Day tour. During the first book I felt the young Katherine and Micheal were really in love – that this was either going to be a HEA or there would be a tragic twist, and the Ms. Kelly didn’t disappoint. Ms Kelly had quickly drawn me into her characters and I really felt for Katherine and I wanted to punch Micheal in the head! And after finishing Catching Kate, I STILL DO!!! I'm definitely on #TeamDaniel  Michael was a good friend to the girls in a way, but he was controlling towards Kate and for him to go from being her staunch defender to believing she would betray his dad like that showed him to be immature and selfish. I am still in the belief that Daniel is the better choice for Kate. ( fingers crossed anyway, who knows what Ms Kelly has in store for us in the next book.)  It was good to see how the men got to meet, how they grew to be close and more of how Veronica plays both Mike and Daniel off each other.  So in ending I am giving Ms Kelly 5 stars this time, because even though I knew the storyline from book one, Ms. Kelly has managed to keep the story fresh, giving us insight on how Kate, Jess and Michael developed their friendship and Ms Kelly’s writing style developed, I kept turning the page, never bored, which when telling a story that's already been told by another POV is a difficult task. I look forward to seeing what develops in the next book... Who's the baby daddy, what is Kate going to do???  I hope we don't have to wait long?

Gees Louise! Does this make things rough! I was so sure I knew what I wanted to happen after reading Breaking Kate... wrong! I am so torn. This novella adds the element of leveling the playing field for the two guys. Never have I ever read a book that was a 'love triangle' where I was so equally torn. I love following Mike and Kate from the very beginning. All the sweet and heart breaking kid moments *sigh* I loved being inside of Mike's head and now i just need more!!!

Read Breaking Kate and then read Catching Kate! Catching Kate is from Mike's point of view and if you have read the books, it will give you a better insight  as to why Michael did what he did. I may be alone in this, but I am #TeamMichael. But once again, I am going to be waiting to see which way Dee Kelly goes with this story!! Any hints?!

If you haven't read Breaking Kate yet, you need to read that one first and I'm going to suggest that you stop reading my review right now so it doesn't spoil anything for you. Ok, now if you're still reading, I'll assume that you already read Breaking Kate. I loved Breaking Kate and instantly fell in love with Daniel. How could you not? I felt bad for Mike, but I figured he burned his bridge and was too late to win Kate back. After Catching Kate, I still firmly believe that. Catching Kate is Mike's story and nothing he had to say has changed my mind about who Kate belongs with. If anything, it only cemented my opinion. He had so many opportunities to make it right. She did nothing wrong - NOTHING. Yes, he thought she did, but he didn't even stop to think before throwing accusations at her and running away. And even when he started to think that maybe she wasn't at fault, he made no effort. She moved on, and rightfully so! I don't dislike Mike and I hope he finds love, just not with Kate. She belongs with Daniel.

This book is a great insight into her Characters that we grew to love in Breaking Kate. I love feeling so connected to them. I have been #teamdaniel all the way. I am still #teamdaniel... but I will say that I understand Mike more now. I feel bad for him, but it's time to move on buddy. ;) I read lots of books I know when its a good book when I feel this passionately about what happens next, Dee Kelly has a way of drawing you in and making you feel invested. This series is a must read! Terrie Jackson
