A fine discovery here. While hardbound and full of beautiful, glossy colour photographs on each and every page, this exceptional book about cats is far from merely a coffee table book. I was pleasantly surprised to find a rich, informative text. For instance, I've never read such engaging writing on the differences between cats and dogs (the author purports that cat owners often treat their cats like dogs, without realizing it) and the rest of the book is so good and so 'right on' (entitled: 'What Cats Love & What Cats Hate') that I did not put it down until I reached the end. The information is immediately useable and is presented with the heart and soul of a bonified cat lover extraordinaire. If you care to take your relationship with your cat(s) up several notches this book is definitely for you. Would make an awesome gift as well. I could not recommend it more highly.
This is an absolutely WONDERFUL book that every cat lover needs to own. The large, charming color photos alone make this book noteworthy but then you read the book and it's full of cat advice and insight from a true lover of cats. I'd say the theme that runs through the entire book is: respect your cat! So seemingly simple and obvious, and yet the feline being the sensitive, emotionally fragile creature that it is...well, we all know it's not always easy to completely please our cats! This book answers alot of questions that you didn't even know you had...and it is highly persuasive. At the beginning of the book, the author makes a great comparison between cats and dogs that I found helpful and interesting. There is also a chapter on dispelling myths about cats that is good. But the heart of the book is the best, entitled: "What Cats Love...What Cats Hate". Wow, so much good stuff here, such as how to talk to your cat, why/how to include the cat in the family, why not to chase or 'spank' a cat, ideas for play, food treats, special rituals, massage and on & on. Cats Have No Masters made me really think about how I treat my cats and how I can bring our cat-human relationship to a whole new level. Just a beautiful cat book in every way.
