Being the second book in The Davenport series, I was concerned that I would have questions, but Kim Law does an excellent job of filling the reader in, while having it fit perfectly with what is going on in this book. I do enjoy the lost love and then found again years later trope in romance novels, and this one did not disappoint. It was sweet when they found each other again, and then when they finally gave into the passion they still had for each other, the sex scenes were very, very hot. This book was more enjoyable than some romances I’ve read because it actually had more of a story than just the two people falling for each other. The two political families that have been feuding for many years added a lot of drama, alongs with secrets and some shocking reveals. The last secret that came to light though, I felt was a bit rushed. And while I can see why Law put it in, I would have enjoyed it being stretched out a bit more. Maybe it will be explored more in the next book in The Davenport series.

I loved this book! I hadn't read the first book in the Davenport series but it didn't matter - I could follow the story with no problem. I just really enjoyed the book. It was entertaining and funny and had a bit of mystery in it as well.  I didn't want the story to end. So far I haven't read one of Kim Law's books that I really didn't thoroughly enjoy! Thanks Kim

Caught in the Act is the second book in The Davenports series by Kim Law. Cat and Brody had a whirlwind romance as teenagers, and for many reasons that you'll find out as you read, they didn't last. Now, they are facing each other again, and though the attraction is still there, they have so much hurt that it's hard for either of them to overcome the past. I completely enjoyed learning each secret as it came out. EVERYONE seemed to have secrets. It really kept things interesting.  As a side note, this author lives in Middle Tennessee, so we have to send out some Tennessee love! The ARC of Caught in the Act by Kim Law was kindly provided to me by the author's assistant for review. The opinions are my own.

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I have read Kim Law's Turtle Island series prior to reading this book, and really enjoyed it, but I hadn't read the first book in this Davenport's series so I wasn't sure what to expect. I think the author did a pretty good job of filling in information that was presented in the first book, so you don't necessarily need to read that to dig into this book. I like the way Kim Law writes, but for me this wasn't my favorite of her works. I'm really not into soap opera-y political posturing. It's not really my thing, but the romance between Catherine and Brody was great and if I get a chance in the future I will try to check in on them. The twist near the end was pretty amazing, but at the same time...of course! Great job!

Catherine Davenport Carlton has a full time job working at her family's foundation.  She's the one  who gives their name a positive spin.  Right now though, she needs a break.  Catherine decides to rent a cottage on the beach in Maine.  She'll have plenty of time alone before her two children join her.  Catherine didn't count on seeing Brody Hollister though.   To say she was surprised to learn Brody lived right next door was an understatement.  Her family had a compound not far away and they spent the summers there.  It was during one of these summer trips she met Brody.  What happened to them was unexpected to say the least. Neither knew it would tie them together forever.      I SO loved this book.  I found it to be funny and sweet.  It does capture the heart quickly.  I felt the emotions and the closeness of these people.  I can relate to the family's keeping secrets too.  Well written and characters you'll never want to let go of, this book should be on your TBR pile.  I was rooting for Catherine throughout the book.  I also found myself hoping for more books about this family.  There are a couple of characters you'd like to boot out (*smile)  without them though, the book wouldn't be the same.  I encourage you strongly to check out this book and this author. You'll be glad you did.      I didn't find any issues.      I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because it's such a smooth, easy read.   ~Copy of book provided by author in exchange for a fair review~

4.5 Stars Reviewed by Angela and posted at Under The Covers Book Blog Kim Law swept me off my feet with The Davenports. This particular book in this series reminded me a little of the TV shows Dallas/Dynasty tv series or the Kennedy’s. There are a lot of intrigue, twists and drama to the story. Of course, lots of family expectations, obligations, betrayals but what I love most is the story of second chance. Caught in the Act is funny, sweet and definitely romantic. Catherine Davenport Carlton has dedicated her life to her family’s public reputation. She is the face of the Davenports and in charge of ironing out any issues they may have weather it’s the politics or personal issues. Brody, on the other hand, is quite the opposite. He is a History Professor, who strives on having his privacy and keeping away from the camera. Unfortunately, his new neighbor will change all his privacy settings he has set for himself to a very uncomfortable level. Their biggest problem though is not the cameras but a secret from their past. I enjoyed Cat and Brody. It’s a love-revisited story that melted my heart. I love the unexpected twists that were thrown at Cat and Brody. Their past, present and future plans definitely threw them off the rails. I also loved the new characters added in this series. They somehow gave the book a small town feel to it. I have to admit there seems to be more soap opera vibe to this story than the first book. No complaints on this end; I enjoyed every drama thrown my way. *ARC provided by publisher

I loved this second chance story. Cat and Brody have loved each other since they were teenagers, but so many things had gotten in the way along with family influences and responsibilities. With so much standing in their way will they be able to overcome it all to choose love or will it tear them apart again? Cat can try to get out from under her family especially her mother who has been controlling with an iron fist from the very beginning. Brody only sees what he doesn't care for when it comes to Cat's family and wants her to just walk away. Put them first this time instead of her family like she had done all those years ago. He has no idea the pain and suffering Cat had gone through that first year after she had stopped hearing from him when she had needed him so desperately. She had turned to her mother and had leaned on her when she had felt like she had no one else. Only this time they are grown and there are more people involved that can be hurt or do the hurting. Will Cat and Brody turn to each other this time or allow their families to tear them away from each other once again?  I was given an ARC of this book in order to give an honest review. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.    Lori P

I found it very, very difficult to get into this book and I almost didn't finish it. It took me a few chapters but I started to like it. Cat and Brody are former sweethearts who run into each other while Cat is hiding away. As part of a political family, Cat has to be careful and plan everything that she does. I didn't know that there was a previous book but I don't think you necessarily have to read. The book description sounded better than the book itself which I have run into before.
