This cowboy plays to win

Rockford James was raised as a tried and true cowboy in a town crazy about ice hockey. Rock is as hot on the ice as he is on a horse, and the NHL snapped him up. Now, injuries have temporarily benched him. Body and pride wounded, he returns to his hometown ranch to find that a lot has changed. The one thing that hasn't? His feelings for high school sweetheart and girl-next-door Quinn Rivers.

Quinn had no choice but to get over Rock after he left. Teenaged and heartbroken, she had a rebound one night stand that ended in single motherhood. Now that Rock's back—and clamoring for a second chance—Quinn will do anything to avoid getting caught up in this oh-so-tempting cowboy...

If you like athletes and cowboys you'll love Rockford James who also happens to be a gentlemen who loves his family. Quinn is a devoted mom to a sweet sensitive little boy. When Rock and Quinn meet up again, she is still angry at him which is understandable but Quinn is such a good guy that I wanted her to see him for who he is now, sooner. They both are close to their families which I always love see and are working through their relationship with each other until evil comes to town. Things get difficult and feelings are hurt. Mr. Evil was hard to stomach that I just wanted to scream at him for being a despicable jerk. Ultimately he got shut down and Rock and Quinn were finally able to communicate and be happy. This author was new to me but I see that this is the beginning of a new series which I'm looking forward to. I'm particularly looking forward to Logan's story. I would read this book again and will read this author again.

I love cowboys and second chance romances and we get the best of both worlds in Jennie Marts’ CAUGHT UP IN A COWBOY! Rock and Quinn grew up next to each other, playing together, getting in trouble together, and falling in love under the Colorado sky. Then Rock crushed their love and Quinn’s heart in pursuit of his professional hockey dreams. That was nine years ago. Now Rock’s back at home to convalesce and secretly hopes to run into Quinn while he’s here. Quinn can’t believe she’s looking in to the face of Rockford James as he pulls alongside her on the way back to her family’s ranch. Rock is sexier than ever but thankfully it’s dampened by Quinn’s tightly-coiled anger from what happened so many years ago. It doesn’t take long before Rock starts getting under her skin again and Quinn knows she’s in trouble. While these feelings are wonderful, the reality of Rock leaving to go back to his hockey team—and leaving her again—is constantly in her thoughts. I absolutely LOVED this book! What I love most about second chance romances is that the characters have a history together. And boy, what a history these two have! I heart Rock and Quinn so much! Their chemistry was electric and their page time together was equally delightful and exasperating! A perfect pair! I loved the small-town setting where everyone knows everyone else's business. It was quite entertaining when Rock and Quinn started spending time together, giving the townsfolk plenty to gossip about! I will say though, it didn’t take long for me to warm up to Rock. He was so amazing with Quinn’s son Max! Hold on to your ovaries ladies! There were so many wonderful secondary characters that really added so much warmth and apple pie to the storyline! Apple pie in the sense that it’s both comforting and always reminds you of home. Annnnd now I’m hungry CAUGHT UP IN A COWBOY is everything I want in my romances and so much more! I invite you to take a chance on Rock and Quinn. You’ll laugh, cry and love right alongside them and their motley crew of family and friends! ***Net Galley provided in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and feelings are my own***

I think that Rockford James, in Jennie Marts newest Caught Up in a Cowboy, is my new favorite hockey player. While he is pictured as a cowboy on the cover, I fell in love with his hockey side fast. Marts easy writing style had me captured from the first page. Rock and Quinn are a fun, second chance couple that kept me turning pages. There were a couple points that I wanted Quinn and Rock just to talk to each other, but Marts doesn’t draw those moments out. I am completely hooked on this series and can’t wait for the next installment. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

Oh my, what's not to love about a hockey star/cowboy. I have fallen in Love with Rock, watch out Quinn. Oh, I guess it's too late for that. Rock has returned home with an injury from the NHL, when he sees his old flame from high school, Quinn. He soon realizes the mistake that he made years ago and now to convince Quinn, that this is the real thing. Loved these characters!! Rock is just so hunky and a very giving person. Quinn is a single mom but very independent and her son, Max is her number one. Max just steals the story, I just fell in love with him. This story will leave you smiling, ok I did shed a tear or two. I highly recommend this book.

Caught Up in a Cowboy (Cowboys of Creedence Book 1) by Jennie Marts. This is Rockford “Rock” James and Quinn Rivers’ story. Rock and Quinn’s story was a wonderful and emotional ride. I fell in love with Rock and Quinn’s characters. The supporting characters were great too. Rock walked away years ago from Quinn and broke her heart. He is back home recovering from a hockey injury. Will Rock and Quinn be able to overcome the hurts from their past and find happiness? I really enjoyed Rock and Quinn’s story and laughed and cried right along with them. There were times that I wanted to knock some sense into Rock and Quinn and tell them to tell each other how they felt! In the end they figured out what was most important to them. I loved the ending and look forward to reading the next book in this series. FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

A mix of a sports story with a cowboy country setting. Rockford James is a cowboy at heart, having grown up in a little town, on a farm, with a steady girl until his dream of playing professional hockey comes true. He leaves the little town, the farm, and his steady girl to follow that dream. Young Rock plans to live the high life and never look back. What he doesn't plan is to leave his heart back home. Quinn is that small town girl that loved Rock with all she had until he left her behind. Wanting to prove she can move on without him she meets a bad boy and has a son. But she has never let her heart heal from Rock breaking it. Then he comes back to the little town to heal from an injury. She steels her heart against him but first loves have a way of breaking through that steel. This book was so much fun. It has romance, family drama, and amazing characters. I love Rock's mom and how she steps in to be Quinn's mom when she needs an ear or advice. Quinn's dad is a grizzly bear with a tender heart. The brother's of both Rock and Quinn are so true to how brothers should be. Rock's egging him on, Quinn's being extra protective. Caught Up in a Cowboy is the perfect book to fall into. I definitely recommend picking up your own copy.

What a heartwarming second chance romance this proved to be, complete with a delightful eight year old, cowboys, a conman, injured hockey player and plenty of angst and turmoil to make it a real page turner – loved it! Rockford James has returned to his family ranch to recuperate after being badly injured whilst playing ice hockey in the NFL. He left town nine years ago, rarely returning and left behind his high school sweetheart, Quinn Rivers. Heartbroken, soon after he left she had too much to drink and a one night stand that left her pregnant and she now has a lovely eight year old son, Max. Max is the one good thing to come out of the whole debacle and she loves him dearly. Now Rock is back, even if it is only for whilst he recovers. As their love rekindles, can they put the past behind them and move on to a future together? What about the father of Max? He’s always denied Max is his offspring, but what happens when he comes back into their lives? This is a story of family, friendship, and second chances. However, sometimes some people really don’t deserve their second chance but working out who does and doesn’t can be perplexing, especially when you’re unsure of their motives! The characters are well developed and the story an emotional roller coaster with young Max as the focus of many indecisions as everyone strives to do their best for this special young man. There are incidents, accidents, attacks and even some time in court in this thoroughly enjoyable, emotively written story which is liberally sprinkled with both turmoil and humour. I have no hesitation in highly recommending it. I requested and was given a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

Second Chance Romance! Rock and Quinn's story is fun, sweet, sexy and infuriating but I loved it. I really enjoyed getting to know these characters. They were relatable and had real life problems to deal with. The love and caring Rock showed to Quinn and Max was beautiful and when Rock stood up to protect them, I swooned!! If you a second chance romance fan you will love this story!

3.5stars It is second chance love between teenage love Rock who is now famous hockey player and now single mom Quinn. Rock left Quinn years ago to persuade his hockey career so she made a stupid mistake and become a single mom. After years Rock is back in hometown to recuperate from injury and old flame comes to life. Both Rock and Quinn are interesting characters and is a little bit funny now he wants her she doesn't then she wants him but he wants to do the right thing. And there is also another problem biological father of her sons suddenly appears in Quinns live. Both Quinn and Rock are a bit annoying but I liked the end and that they come to compromise to be together. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

Truly adored this story. Take two first loves, both flawed, but when you bring them back together it's true love all over again. Once I started reading this stop I could not stop, it is that much of a page-turner. Can't wait to read what comes next.

This is an incredible story of first love, heartbreak, and forgiveness. A second chance romance that will tickle your funny bone and warm your heart at the same time. Rock is a hockey playing cowboy (what's not to love?) who returns home to find that while some things have changed the intense feelings he has for Quinn have not. If anything the attraction has grown stronger than ever. Now Rock just has to convince Quinn he's willing to do whatever it takes to get another chance. I highly recommend this one.

This is an entertaining book that I just loved. Rock is a flawed, but very real cowboy that left the ranch to play in the NHL, while leaving Quinn, the love of his life behind. Quinn never recovered from the broken heart he caused, when Rock is sent to the ranch to recover from a serious concussion. Adult Rock regrets the immature actions of teenage Rock and has tried to become a better adult and make decisions not motivated by selfishness. Unfortunately, that leaves Quinn caught in the crosshairs once again while she worries about her wounded heart and young son. This novel has a bit of everything, from fun antics, romance, and family angst. I found myself turning pages just as quickly as possible. Fans of the genre will want to put this one at the top of their TBR list. This is releasing just in time for summer weather and is perfect to read on the beach or by the pool.

RATING 4.5 STARS Caught Up in a Cowboy is book one in the brand new series, Cowboys of Creedence by Jennie Marts. I have read several of Jennie’s books and never fail to fall in love with her characters. I was especially excited about this new series and it most definitely did not disappoint. Rockford James and Quinn Rivers had grown up together, their ranches neighboring each other. They were high school sweethearts, each other’s first loves, first everythings. They knew each other so well, they could finish each other’s sentences, always knew what the other was thinking. Rock had an early on talent for ice hockey. As soon as he strapped on his first pair of skates, he knew it was where he belonged. So, it wasn’t a surprise that he was offered a hockey scholarship. He can blame it on being a dumb, immature kid, but his ego was bigger than his brain. He thought he had the world by the tail. That he was more important than this little town he grew up in, and that bigger things awaited him. So he left the love of his life behind when he went off to college. Quinn had loved Rock with everything she had. He owned her heart, and then he broke her heart. She was young and stupid and thought she was getting even when she had a one night stand. She thought she could make him jealous and that he would come back. But instead, she ended up pregnant. That was nine years ago. Now she had an eight year old son, Max, who was the best thing in her world. He made it all worth it. She still lived on the ranch with her Dad and brother. Max’s father wants nothing to do with them. That’s fine with her. She thought she was doing fine, until Rock came back, bringing with him all those old feelings she thought she’d gotten over. It turns out, that she’d never really be over him, never really stop loving him. “They said that forgiveness could set you free. Whoever the elusive ‘they’ were. But had they had their hearts broken by the guy they thought they were going to spend the rest of their lives with? It sounded so easy.” Rock is now in the NHL and is one of his team’s best players. But he’s been injured and sent home to recuperate. He’s not that same kid that left here nine years ago. He has always known that giving Quinn up was the worst mistake of his life. Now is his chance to get her to forgive him, maybe give them a second chance. While getting to know Quinn again, he also had the chance to get to know her son, Max. He was a fantastic kid and he fell in love with him as much as he already was with his mother. “You still have it, you know. No matter where I’ve been, or what stupid decisions I’ve made, my heart has always belonged to you.” As Quinn and Rock spent time together, Quinn was slowly able to forgive Rock. But what happens when he’s able to go back to the team? Is there room in his life for them? Or will he leave them again, just like before? Now it’s not only her heart she has to think of but her son’s as well. What a great start to this series! Little Max kind of stole the show for me. He was amazing. Rockford was everything you could hope for in a cowboy/hockey star. Sexy, swoony, sweet, especially with Max. But also he has the temper to go with it. Don’t cross him and ESPECIALLY don’t hurt the people he loves. Quinn is doing her best to hang on, raising her son, helping with the ranch. She had long since given up on finding love again, especially with Rock.

I hadn’t read a book by Ms Marts and am so glad I decided to give her a try. Because I absolutely loved this story. The book centers around Rockford/Rock James and Quinn Rivers. These two were best friends in their childhood and later sweethearts in HS. When he gets a scholarship and a chance to play hockey , he leaves Quinn behind thinking she wouldn’t want to leave town . Quinn is left heartbroken and after a one nightstand with a no good guy, she ends up pregnant. Now an NHL star, Rock is home recuperating after an injury. Somehow they end up together, thinking to keep it light, since Quinn knows that she will be left once he recovers. But as they get more serious, a person from her past comes back to create problems. It’s a story about second chances in love and in life. About realizing the priorities in life and giving love as adults another chance. It’s a story about family, hope and forgiveness. A story that is engaging , with complex characters and promises of many more great stories in this series. I was gifted this ARC copy by Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Rock gave up on his past to score a brighter future. Quinn was a casualty of his pride, that left him with a ton of regret and her with a broken heart. But circumstances change and so do people. Will the maturity he lacked in the past, help him regain the heart he desires most? How do you mend a broken heart? By proving you deserve a second chance. Ms. Marts tickles the funny bone as she sets out to warm the heart. Caught up in a Cowboy shows the value of forgiveness and the healing power of love.

After being on the receiving end of a cheap shot on the ice Rockford James heads home to the family ranch to heal and get his mind right... and possibly re-unite with the woman who stole a piece of his heart years ago. But that maybe easier said than done, since he chose his love for hockey over his love for her, and it broke her heart, and ruined their friendship. Minutes after arriving in town he comes face to face with his girl, when he spots her alongside the road, pedaling a child's bicycle, in a pirates costume... he knows there is a good story there, and if he is lucky maybe she will enlighten him! Through the years Quinn Rivers has secretly kept tabs on the man who owns a part of her heart, the day he left her and their impending future for a career on the ice she was heartbroken, and unsure she'd ever be able to forgive him for it. But when he shows up back in town, ready to mend fences, and steps up to play a pirate for the day, her resolve starts to slip a little, and forgiving him doesn't seem so far off. He wants to rekindle their friendship, and maybe more, but she has her reservations about the "more" part! Caught Up in a Cowboy is a delightful second chance love story that is destined to melt the hearts of romance readers, with it's heartfelt and humorous story line you just can't go wrong with this one! From the first page Ms. Mart's endearing characters will lure you in, and have you completely mesmerized, they are a can't miss duo! Their banter will have you giggling, their intimate moments will make you blush, and their tender moments will have you fighting back the tears... and it's all downright amazing! Quite an impressive start to a new series, it had everything I look for a in a romance story, and so much more, now I can't wait to get my hands on the next one. Highly recommend!! I requested an advanced copy of this title from NetGalley, and voluntarily read and reviewed.
