Celebrating Catholic Rites and Rituals in Religion Class by Kathy Chateau, Paula Miller
How many of our children are prepared for meaningful liturgical prayer? Here are some powerful forms of catechesis that will lead to deeper understanding and commitment on the part of the children. The authors offer a unique approach to liturgical experiences in the classroom by offering a series of simple but meaningful rituals based on the liturgical celebrations of the RCIA. These celebrations unfold our basic ritual signs as Christians: the gathering of the assembly, signing with the cross, naming, blessing, laying on of hands, anointing with oil, and more. They are expressions of faith, of prayer, of belonging, and are an integral part of our Christian heritage and formation.
