A poet is defined as one who writes poetry a maker of verses one of great imaginative and expressive capabilities and special sensitivity. Mr. Watts embodies this definition in his debut collection, Cellar Door. The author weaves his life story using a poetic-autobiographic technique and employs various emotional pinpoints such as wit in Paper Mate, a flirtatious element in Elevator, and despair in Awake as he provides commentary on the human experience. Cellar Door is a blend of the elegant simplicity of Langston Hughes and the nitty-gritty hip-hop artistry of the late Tupac Shakur and will certainly captivate the reader. Mr. Watts is, indeed, a poet.

The book is very good and reaches to your most sentimental thoughts. I recommend this book because it has alot of emotion which will surprise your reaction. I'm looking forward to the next book.

Cellar Door is a challenging and uncompromising work that shows the power of great poetry. At the same time, it nuanced and multi-layered and gives you room to bring yourself into the narrative. Eric Watts is a major new talent who needs to be heard.

I purchased this book two weeks ago and read it cover to cover in one sitting. I was totally spell bound with the depth of the stories told through the masterful use of poetry. This is the first book I have read from Eric Watts and I hope it's not my last. I highly recommend this book to anyone.
