Recently, I started rereading JD Robb's "Death" series. Each book stands alone, and I believe #5 is about where I started years ago. I eagerly sought out the first one in the series, and the rest is JD Robb history. Every new one is a must buy for me, or, thanks to my Nook app, a preorder.

On the story: When a retired cop dies unexpectedly and with a suspicious toxin screen, Eve is asked to put her job before her loyalties.  There are lots of smoke and mirrors but Eve must recognize what is real and what is fake before it is too late. My reaction:  This one tugged at my heart.  Some of the actions were so grotesque and vivid.  I just couldn't put this one down.  The mystery is this one is more intriguing because we know the bad guys early on but just don't know how they managed to do the deed. Roarke check-in:  I imagine that Roarke was Rhett Butler in an earlier life.

We're learning more and more about Eve and Roarke, which is great. As more characters are introduced. Fantastic story.

I recommend the whole series of the JD Robb "in Death" books. I bought a couple of paperbacks years ago but now that I have a Nook, I decided to start at the beginning and read all of them in order. The books can be read independently but they are tied together and I like to see the progression. I never tire of reading about Eve Dallas.

I'm new to this series. I really enjoy it (I love Eve and Roarke) but this one gave me nightmares!!! I guess that says a lot about NR's talent as a writer. This series is a nice change from the romance. I'll keep reading (and possibly sleeping with the light on).

As with all of this series plots, this book is non-stop action and fun.

I love these books, I've started re-reading the series AGAIN because I wanted to 'remember' how it all started and because I think the older ones are better than than the newer ones...J.D. is starting to write more like Nora, but the books are still worth the read.

It was a complete surprise when I found out that the author JD Robb was really Nora Roberts. Ms. Roberts romance stories are the best ever printed and yet she surpasses herself when she writes as JD Robb. The suspensful and thrilling mysteries that bring the character of Lt. Eve Dallas to life keep the reader captured until the very end. Whether you have read the first in this series or the very latest, you will not be disappointed. Lt. Dallas was the product of a miserable childhood and because of this she becomes a police officer in the futuristic city of New York in the year 2050. Each book finds Lt. Dallas, Rourke (her husband), her police team and some friends winding their way through yet another heart stopping murder mystery. In each book Eve continues to fight for those who 'can no longer stand for themselves' and stand she does!! Each book is complete unto itself and yet, as I did, I believe that you will find yourself seeking to read them all. To help you know the order they have been released, I have included them: Naked In Death, Glory In Death, Immortal In Death, Rapture In Death, Ceremony In Death, Vengeance In Death, Holiday In Death, Conspiracy In Death, Loyalty In Death, Witness In Death, Judgment In Death, Betrayal In Death, Seduction In Death, Reunion in Death, Purity in Death and Immitation In Death released in August, 2003. Enjoy them all -- you'll never be sorry.

I have never been much to read series, but this is a definate pleasure. J.D. Robb has taken a strong female character from the future that allows the reader to relate to the struggles and challenges that she goes through in each story. I am now on the fifth of the series and I can't wait to see what's going to happen next.

Of all the series I have read, this series is my absolute favorite! I picked up the first book in the store without realizing it was a book set in the future. I don't like futuristic books at all, I was looking for a book about cops. After I started reading this series I could not stop! These are the best books I have ever read and I love the characters. Eve Dallas and Roarke are absolutely perfect together! Peabody and Mavis are great friends and Summerset is wonderful! I can't wait for the next book in this series and I hope they never stop coming out!!!!!

J did Robb know how to write about the underbelly of the world in vivid detail. Going through the entire series and rereading all now.

Pure, undiluted J. D. Robb. Which, I believe, is more than can be said for the last four or so novels in this series, in which Robb's delightful style has been diluted by what I suspect is somebody else now using that pseudonym. Regarding this wonderful volume, one comment to the copy editor: "Snuck" is not proper English. "Snuck" is a delightful little American colloquialism that often replaces the correct "sneaked" or "had sneaked" in rustic language. It's fine if you want to quote Eve saying it. You can use it in dialogue all day long. If you're recounting a story in which Dan'l Boone recollects how he snuck up on a b'ar in the woods, it's more than fine - it's apt. But it is not okay as part of the author's text. Because the copy editor is supposed to fix that stuff.
