I have been wanting to read these for awhile now but, will not because the second one is not available. Does anyone know why? I really enjoy this author and would love to read this series.

So, this author was new to me. I had never read, or heard of Sweep, before I started looking into this book. I thought this book was awesome! The begining can seem somewhat slow because it's the first book in the series, so you have character introductions and basic foundation being built, but it gets good fast. It's not a hard read, but the writing is not dumbed down at all. If your looking for a series to get excited about, one that makes you want the day to hurry up and finish so you can go home and read, this is a series for you. Another thing to note is that I did not find the magick too heavy. That's one of the reasons I am not going to read Sweep, because I only like the wicca/magick theme in small portions. BE AWARE: Book 2 (A circle of Ashes) is impossibly hard to find! If you start this book, begin your hunt for Book 2. Unless Penguin decides to bring it back out and publish it, it will continue to be a hard book to find.

I was so excited when I heard that Cate was coming out with a new series I couldn't wait to begin reading. The first book was good...it seemed to me though that it was setting the stage for some big things to come, it contained what seemed to me to be alot of background info...I'm starting the 2nd book now. It makes you keep reading right through I know I am going to be waiting for the third...Love Cate's writing as always...But I have to say and all of you sweep fans will agree I MISS MORGAN..sorry had to say that

Clio and Thais are twins who have never met each other. They were separated at birth, Clio living in New Orleans and Thais in New England. But when Thais father is killed, she is brought to New Orleans to live with a woman she has never met before. Eventually, Clio and Thais meet and Thais is shocked to discover that she hales from a long line of witches. And Clio and Thais are both surprised to discover that twins have a special meaning to a coven of witches that want to claim them for their own. Who can they trust?I loved Cate Tiernan's Sweep series and was thrilled to find the Balefire series. A Chalice of Wind is the first in the 4 book series and I was not disappointed. As always, Tiernan has her teens down pat. These are real teens who don't always behave as good girls should. And the witch part of the story is really intriquing. Can't wait to see where this is going.

A slower start, but it picks up and gets more interesting as you get further in the book. If you liked sweep and you miss it, this is the natural way to starch the cravings, but it's nothing to the original. They are however good in their own rite.

i loved loved loved this book! i devoured this in one evening. a lovely tale about a long line of witches, twins separated at birth, and an impending, dangerous ritual. i love how it's set in new orleans, the little french phrases. i can't wait to read the next book. i really like this author and i have seen her sweep series in the bookstore so i am going to have check those ones out, too.

Thais Allard and Clio Martin are twins seperated for their own good and to keep them safe, they have no idea that they have other family. Thais is brought up by her father and when he dies in a tragic accident she ends up in New Orleans where she finds her sister and finds her magical heritage.Clio is used to magic, her grandmother has brought her up using it for good. Now the two sisters are together they have to face up to their power and what to do with it.It's not a bad story but it's pretty predictable if you've read any of Cate Tiernan's series or many of the teenage witches stories going around. This genre seems to need an injection of some new ideas.

I accidentally stumbled upon her work years ago at my second home aka the library and began my journey with sweep series which i only recently finished because i couldn't fathom the story ending. Anyways, with this series, i found a paperback at borders with all three books inside. This series is also awesome and i was sucked in once again. I have read this story many times throughout the years. Very interesting.
