About the Author

After going to a friend's birthday party at a kiddie spa, Jordan West asked her mom to support her goal of making girls without homes feel special. Having a heart to do something for the homeless and foster children she encountered, Jordan dreamed of a party where girls who are least likely to feel affirmed and supported could feel special -like a princess. The original princess party was hosted in Rochester, New York. Nearly 30 girls gathered for pampering (manicures), affirmation (each was given a tiara, a princess dress, and was able to strut her stuff on a runway), and education (they read books together and talked about the importance of school). Jordan has since written about this experience in a book entitled "Champions of Change: Princess for a Day." She was even invited by the White House to officially launch her book and her global "Princess for a Day" movement in Washington, D.C.!
