One of my favorite books from the whole series.. There is always one or two that stand out of even an awesome series. This one stands out to me.

I stuck with it as long as I could, but I could not bring myself to finish this book.  Peg was not only a single mom, but she also seemed a bit crazy... and not in a quirky, I-can-sorta-get-it. Kind of way.  I know Ms. Chapman meant her to be amusing, but she was an over the top, crazy protective mom who clearly wasn't doing her kids any favors with her over-protectiveness.  It was scene after scene of of this behavior from her, that I didn't even want to see what it was about this crazy shrew that Duncan finally fell in love with.  Then there were the kids.  Here daughter who was eight talked more like at teenager.  Then one of her daughter, not sure which one, was pretty much stalking the son of her friend. It wasn't cute, it was annoying.  One of the boys seemed almost stunted in his emotional development, which was clearly because of his mother's over protectiveness.   I couldn't stick with it.  It was painful to read.  I have read some of Ms. Chapman's other books, and thoroughly enjoyed them. This book however was a disappointment.

Wouldn't recommend for a first time Janet Chapman reader. Not one of her best works. On the plus side a hero who is not personally perfect, and a real woman. Nice to follow the continuing saga of the MacKeage Clan.
