Chase Me: A Broke and Beautiful Novel by Tessa Bailey

Winner of the RT Book Reviews March Seal of Excellence Award

College drop-out Roxy Cumberland moved to New York with dreams of becoming an actress, but her dwindling bank account is quickly putting the kibosh on that fantasy. To make some quick cash, she signs up to perform singing telegrams. Her first customer is a gorgeous, cocky Manhattan trust-funder if she ever laid eyes on one. And what could be more humiliating than singing an ode to his junk, courtesy of his last one night stand? Maybe the fact that she's dressed in a giant pink bunny costume…

After a night out to celebrate winning his last case, lawyer Louis McNally the Second isn't prepared for the pounding in his head or the rabbit serenading him from the front door. But the sassy wit and sexy voice of the girl behind the mask intrigue him, and one look at her stunning face—followed by a mind-blowing kiss against his doorjamb—leaves Louis wanting more.

Roxy doesn't need a spoiled rich boy who's had everything in life handed to him on a Tiffany platter. But there's more to Louis than his sexy surface and he's determined to make Roxy see it...even if it means chasing her all over NYC.

About the Author

New York Times bestselling author Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans, and laptop, and drove cross-country to New York City in under four days. Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend, and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.

She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband and daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.

## I loved reading this book. And as always with Tessa's books, I read it in one sitting. Her books are simply remarkable. Every book is so vastly different, yet the chemistry between the characters is always magnificent. The banter between Louis and Roxy in this book was fun and witty. I deducted a star for a couple of reasons: first, the ending was very abrupt (what's up with that?). Then, the misunderstanding why he didn't want her to meet his family was never cleared up (that really bugged me). Believe me when I say those things won't keep me from again!

4 stars--CHASE ME is the first installment in Tessa Bailey’s new adult, contemporary Broke and Beautiful erotic romance series. This is struggling actress Roxy Cumberland and attorney Louis McNally’s storyline Told from alternating third person points of view the focus of the storyline is the building relationship between Louis and Roxy, as well as Roxy’s struggles to make ends me. Kicked out of her apartment for not paying the rent, Roxy ventures into the world of singing telegrams, which will land her face to face (or bunny mask) with Louis McNally. Louis is intrigued by the sultry voiced woman dressed as a giant, pink rabbit but, in all of the mayhem, he doesn’t ask her name. While Roxy continues to audition for roles and a new apartment, Louis continues to search for the woman whom he can’t get out of his mind. The attraction between Roxy and Louis is immediate and intense. Neither one is unable to forget about their first introduction or the kiss that Roxy used to put Louis in his place. Roxy is a feisty, independent young woman with dreams of making it big; she wants to succeed all on her own. Louis is a bit of a man-whore but he is a success in the courtroom and knows a thing or two about how to treat the women in his life. The sex scenes are erotic, sultry and hot. Louis likes to talk dirty in bed, on the floor, and up against the wall. The secondary and supporting characters are colorful and add a little bit of humor and snark to the storyline. We are introduced to Louis’s best friends and beer drinking buddies Ben and Russell, as well as Roxy’s new roommates Abby and Honey. There is an instant connection between Russell and one of Roxy’s friends-I suspect their storyline will be told next. The world building follows Louis’s career as he is determined to do pro-bono work for the under privileged; and Roxy’s numerous auditions for bit parts and starring roles. Louis’s twin sisters Lena and Celeste play a small role throughout allowing a bit of insight into the McNally sibling dynamics and family love CHASE ME has a little bit of everything: humor, heartbreak, perceived betrayal, romance, sex and love. Tessa Bailey will captivate your imagination pulling you into her world of provocative and emotional adventures all ending with a happily ever after.

Chase Me is the first book in author Tessa Bailey’s new series, Broke and Beautiful, and kicks off the series with one hell of a start! Different from Tessa’s other works, this series was a brilliant mix of sassy and sexy and had me alternating between laughing and fanning myself with the heat that only Tessa can bring! If you had told Roxy Cumberland that at one point she would be dressed up in a pink bunny suit performing a singing telegram to a stranger about his, um, package, she would have laughed in your face. And yet here she was, in that fluffy pink monstrosity, dying at the thought of having to sing for this man…who happened to be drop dead gorgeous. Figures. But alas, the acting business wasn’t working out at the moment and she needed a paycheck. What Roxy doesn’t realize is that this chance meeting would turn out to change her life in the best way possible… If you had told attorney Louis McNally II that he would be opening the door after a night of partying to a pink bunny singing about his manhood, he would have laughed in your face. And yet here he was, listening to the sexiest voice he’d ever heard and he immediately knew he needed to see who was under that funny head….and the minute he sees her face, he’s a goner. Now, after a scorching kiss-and-flee, he’s determined to track down bunny girl and own these feelings she’s stirred up in him… An unlikely encounter that seems as funny as it is ridiculous puts two people together who never would have met otherwise. Two people who, in the end, couldn’t be a better match despite their many differences. Ok. So I know you all must be tired of me telling you how much I adore Tessa and her work, but you’re going to have to bear with me again while I sing her praises in this review. This book really shows her diversity in her writing. The humor and sass in this book was freaking brilliant. Roxy is a real spitfire with determination and spunk that had me loving her from the very opening line of this book….which I can still quote after reading this book months ago. Honestly, if you see me at a con, ask me, and I’ll give it to you without hesitation. That’s how great Roxy is. I love her tenacity and willingness to do what it takes to follow her dreams and still be true to herself. Now, onto Louis. Dear all that’s holy, he is lickable. Smart, sexy, successful, and with a heart as impressive as his seranadeable package, he is smoking hot all around. He can go from sweet to dirty in a heartbeat and who doesn’t love that in a man? Oh, and he also had me laughing my arse off too many times to count…when you read this and get to the part where he’s talking to a cheat, you’ll have laughed too many other times to count! Together their chemistry is off the charts and the signature heat that Tessa brings adds that extra spice that rounds out this story perfectly! Adding to this is the introduction to the other characters who will make up the series: Abby, Honey, Ben, and Russell. I love all of them already. Roxy ends up rooming with Abby and Honey while Louis is buddies with Ben and Russell. Each one of them is unique and incredible with personalities that I can’t wait to see more of. Even from the little taste we get in this story I just know I’m going to love their stories.

I love Tessa's book but this one not so much. I bought the series based on the reviews and was dissapointed. I barely finished the book by skimmimng some of it. I wish I never bought it. The story was boring and Roxy whined too much. Its not a plausable story line. We can't forget Louis and how he came in the book.

Love! Love! Love! This is book one in the Broke and Beautiful series. All three books are out now so you won't have to wait to read the next book in the trilogy :) These are also stand alone books so there are no cliff-hangers.Yay! This series follows the stories of three couples and their journeys in life that inevitably lead them all to each other. These are books that are so well written and thought out that you, the reader are able to become invested in the characters right away. I absolutely love Roxy and Louis's story. I will not give away any part of their story but I know you will fall in love with this sweet couple's super hot story. - Kim R.

Couldn't even finish this one. Nothing at all like the Line of Duty books. This book just missed the mark on all fronts - likeability of characters, engaging storyline, humorous banter between characters - all just plain "off"! Disappointed but still a Tessa fan!!!

This series is starting out so much better than the SERVE series, I am really looking forward to future titles. Still, if you are looking for an Alpha like she wrote in the IN THE LINE OF DUTY series, Louis is headed that direction but somehow falls short. Overall this was short and sweet.

Defintiely worth the read if you like both steam and humor. Only gave it 3 stars because I almost stopped reading due to the female's issues. She simply is not realistic when comes to things like "independence" which caused me to keep getting mad at her.

Chase Me was a fun, sexy read with an even sexier dirty talking male who comes in the form of a do-good lawyer by the name of Louis McNally II. I really enjoyed his flirtatious banter with Roxy, but I really struggled to feel a connection between them. I think a lot of this is due to Roxy's stubborn personality and the way she comes across. It was hard to warm up to her and I don't think I ever really did. I felt sympathy for her, as her situation sucks. I understand her love for acting, as I once wanted to pursue that career myself. There is something so unexplainable about stepping into another role. You completely let who you are go and transform into someone else. It's exhilarating and it's something Roxy desperately wants. She doesn't want to feel like a failure and she certainly doesn't want to be barely making it for the rest of her life. I loved Louis. He was a genuine good guy who loves doing pro-bono work for clients. I thought that was adorable, as too many lawyers are only in it for the money, so it was nice to see that he cared for them and wanted to help. He is pretty floored when Roxy first shows up on his doorstep in a bunny outfit to present him with a singing telegram about his... man parts. LOL. He is attracted to her instantly and she shocks the heck out of him when she gives him the hottest kiss of his life in the doorway. He's pretty much a goner from there, desperate to track her down and get to know her. Man, he is one persistent guy too. I liked that about him though. He is willing to play the game and chase her a bit, but he knows when to lay off and make her come to him. He is one sexy talker though, and I do love that about Tessa's men. Overall, I wish I enjoyed this one a bit more. I am a very character driven reader, so if I can't connect to my characters or become invested in their romance, it's hard to enjoy the story for what it is. I am curious to find out more about Honey, Abby, Russell, and Ben though, so I think I will give the second book Need Me a try when it comes out.

Chase Me is an entertaining blend of humor, romance and heart, and I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard (or so often) while reading a book! The out-of-college setting was a breath of fresh air, especially since not every person goes to--stays in--or even finishes college. Favorite Character: This was a close tie between the two MCs. On one hand we have Roxy, who is smart, tough-as-nails, driven and LIKEABLE (a rare combination). She isn't afraid to tell you exactly like it is in as colorful way possible but I can respect her honesty. I would totally be friends with her, you know, assuming she let me. And then there is Mr. Louis McNally the Second. The #LouisEffect is real, my friends. Seriously though, this guy is 9 kinds of awesome! He's confident, but not controlling, charming but not smug, and he genuinely cares for the people around him. Those "approachable abs" of his don't hurt either. ;) He pursues Roxy in the sweetest ways. He also calls her out on her sh---stuff refusing to let her get in her own way. And when things get tough, he fights for her heart. Does he make mistakes? Sure. Who doesn't. But it's hard to fault him for longer than it takes to inhale NYC's best falafel because his mistakes aren't a result of his selfishness or immaturity. Roxy and Louis were adult enough to recognize when they were being stupid and were willing to at least try to rectify it, another thing I loved about this story. Not to mention the supporting cast of characters, all of whom were pretty great too. I *think* we get a glimpse of whose story is up next, which, if I'm right, is guaranteed to be as much fun as this one! Favorite Quote(s): "Would she take back the invitation if he did the running man?" "--- family might be bat sh*t crazy, but they supported one another. In their own annoying, often long-distance way." “You can’t just come here and yell at her like this. You didn’t even call ahead, like decent people." Final Verdict: Read it. It's a FUNTASTIC start to a new series and I'm excited to see where Tessa Bailey takes it next!

5 entertaining, sexy, fantastic, page-turning, pink bunny stars! New Adult is my favorite genre to read. I discovered this genre about two years ago. I was more of a paranormal reader before I was introduced to so many amazing authors in the NA genre. So when my favorite genre and my favorite author are having a party, I'm the first one to attend! :)  Chase Me, by Tessa Bailey, was freakin' fantabulous!!! If you have read Tessa's previous books you probably know that the characters that are fighting for her attention in her writing cave (Oh, what would I give to spend a day there!!!) are IRRESISTIBLE! The first installment of Tessa Bailey's new series will give you all the feels. It's sweet, sexy, romantic, funny and panty-melting hot!  Chase Me is the story of Roxy Cumberland and Louis Mc Nally II. Roxy's dreams of becoming an actress in New York, but the lack of interest of the people in the show business world is really making her road to success a bumpy one. When she gets kicked out of her apartment because it's one too many times she can't pay the rent, Roxy turns to a job offer that is not was she had hoped for, but that will at least help her put food in her mouth. When she knocks on a door wearing a pink bunny costume the last thing she expect is to come face-to-face with a hot-as-hell guy.   Louis has no clue who the girl behind the pink bunny costume is. After an awkward singing telegram, and an even more awkward conversation, he’s intrigued. When she's about to leave he has one request for her: he wants to see her face. What he sees leaves him breathless and the unforgettable kiss she gives him leaves him speechless. Louis will do whatever it takes to find her. When theirs path’s cross again, Louis is determined to show her that there is more to him. Chasing a pink bunny all over New York City is far from easy, but Louis is ready to get in all kinds of trouble to get Roxy.  I freakin' loved Chase Me!!! I was cheering for Team Loxy from beginning to end! It's so easy to fall in love with them! When I read one of Tessa's books I feel like two of my good friends are on this incredible journey to finding love. I stick by their side through ups and downs, and I cheer for them in their moments of happiness.  The connection that I feel towards these characters is indescribable! Their chemistry is undeniable and out of this world HOT! Their banter between them is crazy addictive and it left me LOL in so many occasions. I loved how both these characters grew together on this journey. They learned a lot from each other and ended up finding love when they least expected it.  It shows that Tessa Bailey had a blast writing Chase Me. It was fun, flirty and fantastic! Each time she starts a new series she does a fantastic job at introducing us to the characters that will make us get lost in their worlds. The supporting cast of characters for Chase Me is sublime! They all fit perfectly in the story. I can't wait to read more about all of them. Need Me is the next installment in the Broke and Beautiful series. This will be Honey and Ben's book. Honey is Roxy's roommate and Ben is Louis' good friend. This will be a forbidden student/teacher romance. Eeeeep! So excited to read about these two!!!!  I give, Chase Me, by Tessa Bailey, 5 entertaining, sexy, fantastic, page-turning, pink bunny stars!
