3.5 stars bc the ending was a big letdown. this was more than i was expecting... the summary for this book just mentions that Beverly suffered some kind of tragic event and even though you can probably guess, i was still surprised. i love Beverly with all my heart, she deserves the world and more. It broke my heart how much Beverly struggled with the aftermath of The Incident, and dealing with it on her own. I'm so glad that she met caring, understanding Gavin and that he basically become her safe haven. They really did need each other, no matter how much Beverly tried to deny it.

It is a nice, fast-paced, interesting and engaging story. Both the protagonists are pretty strong in their own way and it reflects that author has put in a lot of effort on building these characters well. I immediately fell in love with aura of perfect and amazing Gavin Reed. He is compassionate, intelligent, smart, focused and humorous. Beverly is strong, independent and a true sports person. Her sportsmanship and professionalism reflects in her personality. Most of the characters are realistic. Why I gave only four stars? 1. Writing could have been better. 2. The book ends at a cliffhanger. I am really waiting for the next part to come soon. 3. The book has left me with so many questions. There are so many things that need closure. a. What about Peyton, Ian-Aubrey relationship and Jenny-Trevor relationship? b. Gavin Reed’s Past and the reason of domestic violence on him and his mother. For a person with such a difficult childhood and past, what evolved him into such a wonderful human being? What gave him strength? I am sure all of this will be covered in next part and the wait is quite long. #ChasingBeverly #NetGalley

3.25-3.5 Stars Chasing Beverly by Ashlynn Cubbison is a fun, romantic, and heartwarming story about taking chances, moving on, and learning to love again. This book didn't completely make my heart melt with all the swoons, but some parts of are wonderfully affecting and entertaining. I really liked the beginning chapter and was quite impressed that I found myself immediately intrigued. I expected plenty of drama and feels, and to be engrossed and really into the storyline. That didn't really happen quite like I thought it would. There are many lighthearted, fun, and touching moments, and I even teared up a bit a few times, but for some reason, I just didn’t feel that enthusiastic about everything. At times, the dialogue felt a bit forced or just kind of awkward, a few things seemed rushed, and some parts just wasn't that exciting. For me, the book just didn't have enough appeal or that irresistible charm to completely pull me into the story.  But, even though this novel isn't spectacular, I still enjoyed most of the story.  I loved the setting and being able to explore Portland, I adored the sweet moments, and I liked the characters enough to care about them.  I also liked that there's a bit of humor, mystery, and a few surprises. All in all, this was a good read perfect for a lazy afternoon or a day at the beach.  I liked the romance and adored Gavin and Beverly as a couple. Gavin is sweet, kind, patient, and caring. I love how Gavin is willing to wait for Beverly and just be there for her. Beverly is guarded and not very trusting. She's hurting in so many ways and I felt so much for her. Like Gavin, I wanted Beverly to realize that she deserves to have true happiness and another chance at love. I liked the way their relationship develops and enjoyed all their cute and emotional moments. I think they're great together and I rooted so hard for them. Ashlynn Cubbison has written a sweet and fun story about second chances, forgiveness, and love. I may not be over the moon in love with everything in this novel, but I think Chasing Beverly's overall plot is interesting, delightful, and enjoyable. I definitely recommend this book and I'm looking forward to see what happens next. I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review and for participating in a blog tour hosted by Xpresso Book Tours. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Chasing Beverly is one of those books you can’t put down once you start. I thoroughly enjoyed everything from the setting, to the characters, to the witty humor of the characters. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a story about love and redemption. It was well-written and is an easy read. I love that it was a cliff hanger because it has me wanting more! I can’t wait for the sequel!

Language: R (84 swears, 1 “f”); Mature Content: PG13; Violence: PG13 BUYING ADVISORY: HS - OPTIONAL. AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE When business finally introduces Beverly and Gavin, both of them know that their lives -- in their companies and beyond -- have been changed. While Gavin is ready to pursue what is obviously forming between them, Beverly can’t see past her baggage and the inevitable heartbreak it will bring them both. The story was okay. It’s an enjoyable fluff read but not something that kept me on edge needing to know what was going to happen next. As I read, I was annoyed with a lot of the chapter breaks. I can understand Cubbison purposefully interrupting things that I wanted to know more about in order to keep readers in suspense, but the problem is that she wouldn’t go back address those things until several chapters later -- if at all. I also found Gavin to be too perfect and unrealistic. Even with the cliffhanger ending and several unresolved questions, I am not going to read the sequel. The mature content rating is for sex; the violence rating is for a horrific car crash description as well as mentions of domestic violence and suicide.

There should have been a warning that this book ends in a cliffhanger. It really didn’t need to, but it did. The heroine, Beverly, had suffered a terrible accident that derailed her professionally and personally. She’s closed off from her family and from any hope of a normal, romantic life. Instead, she pours herself into the business that she’s built. She meets up with Gavin and, immediately, they both experience instalust that, for Gavin, quickly becomes instalove. I wasn’t clear what his job really is. He’s described as a sports agent, but for some reason, he’s organizing an ad campaign for ESPN that calls for him to use the sports models that Beverly represents. I wasn’t aware that sports agents did ad campaign for major networks. And we don’t really see what either of these characters do in their professional lives. It’s mostly as if they’ve been given those job titles and a thumbnail description and the author just lost interest. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

5 Stars for this new author! Beverly's hopes of going to the Olympics came to an end when she was in a car accident and now she can't get over the loss of her mother and boyfriend. She has locked up her heart so that she can never be hurt like that again. Gavin is all about his PR firm and one night stands ... he doesn't know what hit him the day he meets Beverly. I was blown away by this book ... it had me reading into the wee hours of the morning just to see what happens. I found the characters very relatable ... Beverly was a broken sole and my heart hurt for her. And then there's Gavin ... who wouldn't want a handsome successful man putting you in the centre of his world? The only thing I found not believable was that Beverly owned a successful company at the age of 21. I was not expecting the ending ... at all ... and to be a cliffhanger. I can't wait for the next book! I received an early copy courtesy of Acorn Publishing through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.
