Even the best-planned experiment can have unpredictable consequences.

Max Allenby loves his job as a chemist with Armacom, developing new protective materials. He harbours a secret crush for the CEO, the stern and distant Blake Winters, which makes dealing with his harridan of a boss, Dr. Ella Preston, bearable.

Blake Winters is a lifestyle Dom. He spotted Max when he first joined Armacom, but has kept his distance from the talented, young scientist. When his Head of Security, who also happens to be Max's older brother, tells him about Max's feelings, Blake decides its time to make the pretty young man his.

Blake proposes a dating experiment to Max. For three hours a night over five nights, Max will give Blake his complete submission. Max is conflicted but decides to take the plunge and get a taste of a lifestyle he secretly craves.

Each date night introduces Max to a new level of submission. He loves every minute but is also conflicted-unable to believe a man like Blake wants him as anything more than a temporary plaything.

Blake understands that experiments do not always turn out as expected. He takes steps to convince Max of his feelings and to reassure him that his submissive streak is a strength, not a weakness.

L.M. Somerton is an auto-read for me so it was a no-brainer that I jumped at the chance to review 'Chemical Bonds'. The description held my attention, and partly that was due to loving a serious Dom and an untried submissive. I knew this author would do Max and Blake justice, and I wasn't wrong. "Everything about Max shrieked submissive but Blake had no idea whether or not Max recognized that trait in himself let alone accepted it. He suspected that it might have to be coaxed from him. Inside, Blake smiled—he had never been one to resist a challenge." Max is the epitome of a geeky, nerdy scientist and I adored him. Especially considering the first time I met him, he was racing to work on his bicycle in the pouring rain and reminded me of a drowned puppy. An image that remained for a bit, I dare say. Blake was everything I expected from a fairly young, built his multi-million dollar company from scratch viper in the boardroom, control freak Dom. Yes, actually, that describes him perfectly. He set his sights on Max and wasn't taking no for an answer. I was really hoping that Max would be able to shake Blake up a little. *snort* I really liked the way the author took Max and Blake through the learning curve of BDSM. Blake was very patient and kind, but provided the punishment Max needed in an accepting and loving manner. Blake was truly wonderful at showing Max his own inner submissive, and instructing him in a safe, sane, consensual world. Even better was that, as Max's confidence in himself grew, he became a little brattier every moment, turning Blake upside down. A joy to watch. Thank you, Lu, for a delightfully loving tale of a D/s partnership. NOTE: This book was provided by Pride Publishing for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews
