The Unexpected Magic Series by Patricia Rice is one of my most favorite paranormal series. I love reading anything magical and Patricia Rice is really great at weaving a splendid magical tale. Lord Dare and Emilia are such strong and amazing characters and really suited each other very well. I was captivated by the story throughout the entire book and was really sad when the story came to the end.

This is the first book by this author that I've read - and I loved it! So now I will happily go find all the other books she written and enjoy "catching up"! What fun.

Another great story in this series. The two main characters are Lord Dare, who is dying of consumption, and Emilia McDowell, another of the Malcolm women with a special gift. She has the ability to heal others, but it often saps her strength and has almost killed her in the past. Emilia proposes a marriage of convenience to Lord Dare because it would give him funds he needs to provide for his mother and sisters when he’s gone, and it would allow Emilia to get her inheritance. They are both scientific people, so it gives them something in common, and their marriage becomes a real one (a few sex scenes you might want to skip). They have to work through problems with Dare’s consortium, which needs Emilia’s land or her cousin’s land for a railroad, which creates problems between them. There is romance, suspense and more in this story and I think anyone would enjoy it. I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest review, which I have given.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I have not read the series, but I very much want to read the Other books. This had intrigue, a love story, and a touch of magic. I want to know what happens to these characters down the line. Will she learn to control her gift? Will she be able to heal Dare.? Will a son be borne? What happens to Tess? Overall a great read and looking forward to upcoming books. Loved this one.

Chemistry of Magic by Patricia Rice Unexpected Magic #5 Wow! I absolutely loved this book!!! I do like a marriage of convenience story that works and this one definitely did. With Miss Emilia Malcolm McDowell wanting her inheritance but needing a husband and Montague “Devil” Dare dying of consumption but needing to secure his family’s future the marriage is something they both see the benefit of. If there is attraction, so much better, right? Little do the two realize that there will be more than consumption to deal with when they reach their new home! With a staff to hire, laboratories to set up, healing to be done, evil ne’er do wells trying to steal from them and family magic in abundance the two manage to find their way to contentment but…can they have forever with his sentence of death hanging over their heads? Again – loved this book and when I finished I read the excerpt for “No Perfect Magic” – the next book in the series – and wanted to keep reading but the book is not out yet – it has William in it and I have been DYING to find out more about him! Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review. 5 Stars

I have really enjoyed this series. Am looking forward to hearing more from this family. Emilia isn't able to touch anyone because of her gift. She wants to take control of her grandfather's estate but can't until she is married. She knows Dare is dying of consumption and would be the perfect husband. She won't have to put up with him for long and she can get control of the estate. The problem is, she didn't count on having any feelings for Dare. Dare knows he is dying and wants to provide for his mother and sisters. His heir has let him know that he will be taking over his home and that his mother and sisters will need to find another place to live. What Dare needs and what Emilia wants is conflicting. Will they be able to come to an agreement and live together during the time they have left?

Her Healing Touch. Emilia has the Malcom gift of healing but because it is painful and because the last time she tried to save a life she almost died, she avoids all human contact and concentrates on her pharmacopeia. To this end, and in order to gain her inheritance and continue her life's research, she proposes marriage to a dying man. Dare is not aware of her aversion to touch and when he finds himself married to a beautiful woman, vows to seduce her. Emilia finds much to her surprise that her desire for her husband seems to override the healing connection, allowing her to find a different kind of connection, one she has never known before! Another fabulous story from Patrica Rice which I highly recommend.Whilst this is a standalone, readers will get more enjoyment if they have read previous books in this series. Can't wait to read William's story. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
