The most beautiful and complete illustrations of any version of this story that I have seen. The story is especially dear to me, as I had memorized the poem before I could read, and my parents thought I was reading it. Truly the best version of this book!!

The Night Before Christmas is a great book to bring out in your classroom in December. This book will get the children excited for Christmas break, and can teach them about Santa Clause in the earlier grade levels. There is many activities that you can do that relate to this book. The children can do an art activity of some sort while reading this book. There is also great rhyming in the book, and they can use the same tone to make up their own story in a different tone.

The Night Before Christmas was about a family waiting for St. Nicholas to arrive and leave presents under the tree and fill their stockings so high! As St. Nicholas comes crashing down the Father sees him through the window so he knows St. Nick has arrived. He if fat and jolly with big red rosy cheeks. With all his reindeer he lands on the roof. Down the chimney he goes and leaves all the goodies for the family to share in the morning. Happy Christmas to all and to all a good night!I relate to this book by my parents reading it to me and my brother when we were very young. It was so exciting to know Santa was bring us gifts and our parents made our Christmas very special. In the classroom, I can ready this book the last week before Christmas break and print out coloring pictures to color. I can also have my students do a Christmas ornament to take home and put on their tree.

The book tells the story of Christmas Eve and how Santa creeps very quietly to deliver presents. The man in the story says that he hears him and he sees him fly away calling out his reindeer and telling everyone Merry Christmas The story is a classic and was a familiar book to me that was read every year. The colors and pictures are very pretty and makes the children pay better attention. With it being a poem, children are likely to memorize it easier. When reading this book to kids, I will have them tell who, if anyone, has read this book to them. After the book is read, I will do an activity with the children that incorporates what they think Santa looks like.

The illustrations of this classictale rendered by Ms. Harness arequite charming. This is a truepicture book, in a large-size format, that invites careful and repeatedviewings of the full colorillustrations. For instance, theangel on the Christmas tree changes, moves, when ol' St.Nick arrives. The family cat and dog welcome Santa, and the artist included severalheart-warming ideas in herinterpretation. This is a fun bookfor seeking out detail and young andold alike will be delighted by whatis depicted. Collectors of picturebooks will want to add this one totheir collection. Skillful renderingsand charming ideas sums up the book.Highly recommended.

The pictures in this version of the classic tale establish a Victorian American setting. The scenes are truly beautiful to behold. It is delightful!
