Chicken Goon
A hockey team's goon makes any player think twice about going after the puck. Gunner was the perfect goon; he was rough and tough and made his opponents quiver in their skates. His family left big shoes to fill, but Gunner did it with ease. No goon had ever been as good as Gunner, and it was quite possible no one ever would be.

But what if Gunner didn't follow in his family's footsteps? Was it possible that he could make his own way and be different than all the goons before him? Chicken Goon is about how one chicken learns that being yourself doesn't have to mean leaving your family behind.

About the Author

Before Jacki started writing children's books, she received a degree in criminal justice and, later, in nursing. She always had a passion for writing but wasn't sure she had what it took to be an author. After a while, she figured, why not? and gave it a chance. Her favorite children's book authors are Mo Willems, Sandra Boynton, and Shel Silverstein.

When she is not writing, you can find Jacki freezing her tush off watching her two boys play ice hockey with her hockey-fanatic husband. She has no choice but to love hockey, as she is outnumbered in her own home. She's also a sucker for chick flicks, campfires, and fall weather. She equally loves a good cup of coffee, chickens (wink-wink), cheesecake, and dark chocolate; but is deathly afraid of spiders, witches, and snakes—not necessarily in that order. Jacki's favorite thing is to read to her boys each night before bed. Her hope is that others will find joy in reading to their children, just like she does.
