"Chicken & Me" is a short story set in the rural southern meighborhood during the 60's.This story recounts an overly active, free spirited little girl who had a bad habit of sneaking into the chicken yard where she delighted herself by lying on an old broken down car getting a belly full of figs. Unfortunately her Granddaddy's chickens would often escape from their pen. For every action there is a reaction. This is one of many childhood experiences of young Mott, a bright, inquisitive and imaginative little girl growing up among the older and colorful members of a small close-knit southern community. Raise by her grandparents whose love, wisdom, and anecdotes taught her grand lessons that kept her grounded.
