I was amazed that Lisa Beth Darling managed to do it again, she pulled me right into this story and I couldn't put the book down! This series just keeps getting better and better. The story is amazing and stunning. This story is mythology with a little dystopian brought into the mix.  The things that happen on Olympus are dispicable.....no morals, no regrets, no remorse. There is not much to like about any of the Gods, they love themselves enough so I guess that doesn't really matter. Alena and Ares has been suffering for the last four years, each in their own heartbreaking way. Raven is listening to the wrong person, following the wrong path, he is a typical Olympian, cruel, brash, uncaring.  The story is awesome. The writing is great. The imagination that went into this series is astonishing. Love this series!

Our Review by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Chelle: I have been a fan of this author and series since book #1, and Lisa Beth stays true to her niche with a dark, dangerous and beautifully disturbing 4th installment in the OF WAR series. As I've said in every review of the series so far, these books are not for the faint of heart - they're dark, violent, and a bit depraved - but if you like mythology, horror, and dystopia, you will enjoy Lisa's no holds barred approach to erotic paranormal.  After a devastating ending to Alena and Ares's relationship in the last book, Child of War - Rising Son reunites the couple and makes their partnership even stronger. Elsewhere, the boy we love to hate, Raven, is continuing his rampage of immature and unforgivable acts in his attempt to prove that he's a 'true' Olympian.  There are so many things going on in this book and each and every one will have you glued to the page each step of the way, right up to the twist at the end that will leave you a bit breathless.  I'm definitely looking forward to Women of War and the next step in this truly unique and unforgettable series.

I have been a hardcore fan of this series since book one. I'll never be more thankful for the person that introduced me to these books. (thankyouthankyouthankyou, Ronda!) My love for the story and all its characters has continued to increase as the series has progressed. Knowing only one book (and one short story) remains in the series saddens me greatly, but it also excites me. I have no clue what I'll do once it's finally over because the OF WAR series is one of my top three favorite series, but everyone deserves their happy ending...or not so happy ending. *evil smirk*  Every time I read these books it's just as magical and powerful and devastating as it was the first time around. The same events still make me smile, cringe, or cry. That's how you know this is an amazing series. With Lisa's wonderful writing, that reads more like a movie in your head, there is never a dull moment. There's murder, betrayal, hot sex, action, sea monsters, and more! What more could you want? Add in the rich Mythology and you have a story that truly shines. Book 3, Child of War: Rising Son, is yet another captivating installment in the Of War series. It's still the gritty, sexy, roller coaster ride we've all grown to know and love, only better. The story line is even more complex, more entertaining, more heart-warming! Motives are being revealed, secrets exposed, and chaos has been unleashed in the Mortal world!  CoW:RS sets up for what is sure to be a mind-blowing ending to an already epic series. Bring it on!

With her masterful storytelling, Lisa Beth Darling continues the journey of the haunting couple, Ares and Alena. Having left their relationship in shambles in the last book, Darling compassionately and beautifully reunites and solidifies their union. Their intimate scenes are romantic, erotic, and hot enough to spark the page and leave you breathless. Meanwhile, a brash, ambitious, and immature Raven commits many unforgivable acts, even murder, in his quest to be accepted. While Darling’s innovative plot twists provide Raven with the perspective and maturity needed to face all of the horrible things he’s done, he hasn’t quite come of age at the end of this book. Fully drawn into the author’s world again, I was completely enthralled with the multiple storylines right up to the ending that I didn’t see coming. It’s a special treat to read a book that does it all and does it so well. I was provided a copy of the book by BTS eMag for purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review – all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Spell Bounding! Wow! Many words can describe how fantastic this 4th installment of the "Of War" series is. I was totally Spell Bound, the story captivated me from the first page, and the writing is so creative and brilliantly written that it kept me glued to the pages. All day small scene clips played over and over in my mind recalling and reminding me how intense, heart breaking, shocking, and on the edge of my seat thrilling the story was. Though this story is a long novel, the drama is wicked with infuriating situations that will have you fuming towards some of the gods as the author shows us a side that is despicable, jealously motivated, and cruelly demented. At the same time the author shows the heroic side and will have you cheering the characters on in their revenge and conquests. The connection between all the characters are electrifying and draw you in. The author does a fantastic job with the characters emotions of hate, love, lust, and deceit in a way that it felt so real world like. Going into this read my feelings towards Raven were bad and I had grown to hate him from the last book because of his devilish acts towards his mother but the author took his character that was great to hate and flipped his demeanor around to a semi-redeemable caring person towards others as he experienced the trials he had to go through to become an Olympian. He became heroic in his challenges as he rescued his half sister from the Fiery lake in the Underworld and as he killed the great sea monster in Poseidon sea. The story's plot is intense and exciting showing how dedication and determination can over come some of the harshest situations. The erotic scenes are mind blowing especially when Raven is initiated into manhood. With a little help from the Olympian Gods the passion and desire will take you beyond no return so get ready for a sensory overload when the erotic escapades blast above the imagination. Even though most of the story is intense and thrilling, there were sweet and tender moments that Raven's sister Rose captures as her actions touch your heart. I loved how the author added a physical handicap disadvantage to the story because it showed even though physically someone might not be as strong but mentally they far exceeded everyone else's abilities making the ones not handicap the ones lacking in substance as a person. Overall, it was fantastic to read more about Ares and Alena and to see their love tried and tested beyond extremes. It was neat to see Raven grow into maturity even though he caused devastation on earth which by the way was another great accomplishment the author portrayed by bringing in similar current events into the story. Most important, it was great to read the awesome drama between the Gods Apollo, Hades, Poseidon, Zeus, Hera, Athena, Aphrodite, and the Nymphs. I totally look forward to the next installment in the Of War Series to find out what happens to Ares and Raven down on earth, will they fix all the chaos Raven caused? What will happen to Alena and Rose now that they are back on Ares island, will the deadly plague overtake the world to include even the Olympians? Will Raven take out his half brother Hunter? What about Raven's relationship with Aphrodite - will there be any true feelings come between them? I'm dying to know what other scheme Apollo and Zeus come up with to make things more dramatizing for Ares and Raven? Finally, will the fae heritage come to the forefront now that Raven knows who he is or will being a God wipe out that part of him; and will Rose's powers exceed even Zeus powers? Excellent Read!
