This author is absolutely wonderful--all the books in this series, including the prequel--are a joy to read. And the covers are wonderful--first time I ever remember being able to see the adult in the visage of a child.

Brendan O'Carroll's style of writing is of one unique nature. The continuing story of Agnes Brown and her family has you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. You get to know each character and feel their emotions and share their daily routine! This entire trilogy is just wonderful. Please read The Mammy, The Chisellers, and The Granny!

Another great book from Brendan O'Carroll...if you have ever gone to Ireland and experienced the people and the culture than this is the book (one of a trilogy) to read...it's funny, poignant, and a delight...keep up the good work!

This is a wonderful story. I hadn't read the other books by this author but had no problem following the characters. There is something for everyone in this novel. I will be looking for the other novels now so I can read more about the Brownes!!!

After having read The Mammy the day before (in one four period), I had the fortune of reading The Chisslers the next night as I had it also, Agnes is a great character....one that you simply love, love, LOVE! This book is an easy read, words flow comfertably, soem language is a wee salty...BUT NOT IN A CRUDE way. I look forward to reading the third book. Looking for a light enjoyable read? This is it.

The Chisellers is the second book of Brendan O'Carroll's trilogy. We re-visit the delightful family of Agnes Browne, a widow with seven children, or as she calls them, the 'chisellers'. This book takes place three years after The Mammy. The family lives in public housing and sells produce in her produce stall on Moore Street. The characters are delightful and truly believable. There continues to be a lot of emotion involving the characters. Agnes is involved with a Frenchman, Pierre, who works at the local pizza joint. He seems to be tested constantly in dealing with the Browne's, but tends to remain calm and supportive to Agnes. Agnes is a colorful woman and you just can't help loving her! Mark is the oldest son, and now at 17, has a 'chance of a lifetime' to save the furniture maker's business, with whom he has been an apprentice for the last several years. He is also struck with the love bug, and captures the heart of this special girl. But not all is rosy for Agnes' family. Frankie, the second son, becomes involved with a local group of skinheads, who show their violence by hurting one of Agnes' chisellers. Rory, the third son, also has his bout with trouble. This is a fast moving novel and leaves you wanting more. Not many novels of this size, only 230 pages, is this jam-packed with so much action. The Browne's have certainly stolen my heart and I can't wait for the next book in this trilogy!
