Overview

In a world of chickens, one chicken fights for the right to question.

The setting for this book is a fantasy world inhabited strictly by Chickens. In this far off world, the Chickens live in fear of an evil King: Doodle Doo. This evil king, having usurped the throne from a Queen and King who believed in the power of questions and love, Doodle Doo turns the Chicken world upside down and destroys thousands of lives in the process.

Chocrotes is born during Doodle Doo's reign and is raised by a scientist and professor of roostory, who believe in the power of questioning. Chocrotes believes strongly that his peaceful world has been uprooted by a fascist regime. Throughout his life Chocrotes asks questions, even though he is warned not to.

This is his story.

Reviewed by Author Anna del C. Dye for Readers Favorite "Chocrotes and the World Without Questions" is the most brilliant tale of all times. It beautifully teaches children, and thus the future generations, that questions are good. I loved the story and certainly enjoyed the telling. It is a great book that needs to be in every household throughout the world. It is an excellent tool to teach children that to live is to question, and that there can be many answers to every question. It is an excellent way to create more questions giving parents adequate reason to spend quality time together. Chocrotes is born in the time when chickens cannot ask questions. This is a horrible time in the history of the chickens that are very wise and learned. From the moment he hatches, he starts questioning, which brings delight to his parents and also terror to their souls. You see, all those who question are banished from the kingdom and later killed. Chocrotes grows up playing the game of no questions until he goes to the University and can’t hold them in any longer. As soon as he asks his question, he is taken, in exile, to an island. There, his best friend, Marco Polo, rescues him five years later. Determined to bring questions back to his fellow chickens, he unites all those who had left the kingdom years earlier to make war on the no questions king. This tale is very well-written, a great entertainment for the whole family. It is easy to read and a source of great learning, mingled with fantasy. What s great job by Steve Berkowitz!

Amazing ability of author to write an allegory that is, at once, a pleasant, fairy tale-like story for children, and a profound commentary on societal issues affecting all mankind.

Awesome! I loved this fun tale of chickens and their world. What I thought at first was a cute kid's book about chickens was actually a pretty epic story. The style and story have a classic feel, but there are countless modern themes, from following you dreams, to embracing the person you were born to be. This is a great book.

“Chocrates and the World Without Question” is a creative, funny, enjoyable, and thought-provoking story. Each time I read this book, the more I enjoy it! “Chocrotes...” is a story to read several times in order to fully realize the depth to this short tale. On first glance, it reads as an endearing story of a passionate rooster who refuses to stick to the status quo, but this story is much deeper than that. You’ll notice connections to various world events and maybe also to your own life. Read carefully to catch the clever humor and subtle references. I look forward to reading more stories by this new author!
