The Frenchman and the Cajun In this 10th book of the Vampires in America series, CHRISTIAN tells the story of the Eurovamp Mathilde’s progeny who had declined to go along with her scheme to kill Raphael and take over his territory. Christian Duvall has plans of his own to become the Lord of the South after all the vampire dust has settled from the battle. He has been in Texas for a while scouting the territory and devising strategies to fight in the challenge as the current Lord Anthony is taking the unusual step of retiring. Christian allies himself with Raphael as he knows who really controls the country and to make a united front again another Frenchman, Hubert, who plans to take over the South. Hubert takes vampire fighting to a whole new ugly level by creating a vampire zombie army hidden in Vincent’s territory of Mexico. Those of us who live in Texas understand the phrase “six flags over Texas” referring to the six countries including France who had sovereignty over all or part of Texas during the state’s history. Christian has no doubt he will be the Frenchman reestablishing that control again over Texas and the rest of the Southern territory. Christian has his strategies set in place for the coup until he meets Natalie Gaudet who is Anthony’s “cousin” and works as his forensic account doing work to ferret out the previous lord’s despicable deeds. Christian did not plan to be so overwhelmingly attracted to this smart and sassy Cajun woman. Natalie is equally captivated and enticed by Christian; they fall into an irresistible, mutual attraction while war continues to brew around them. Anthony has nefarious plans of his own some that are a part of the high drama, action, and intrigue playing out in this story. Christian is the quintessential sexy, seductive Frenchman who dazzles Natalie in a way no man has before including all the other handsome vampires she has been around. And something about Natalie calls to Christian for the first time in his two hundred and thirty nine years. Natalie’s intelligence, wit, and courage match well with the attractive, but arrogant Christian who is a very powerful vampire with some hidden talents well suited to the coming battles. This book has quite a bit of intense action to go along with the romance; it’s clear that an escalation of the war is impending as the European vampires intensify their efforts to attack and overcome the North American vampires.

Christian Duvall is determined to become the next Lord of the South. He'll let nothing stand in his way either. Christian knows that his survival depends on his decisions and actions he takes before, during, and after the challenge. When making an appointment with Lord Anthony, Christian encounters a sultry voice that beguiles him like no other. Natalie Gaudet is a forensic accountant that works for Lord Anthony, whom claims family ties to Natalie but no one in her family believes it, going through Lord Jabril's records. Natalie is very good at her job. Yet nothing could prepare Natalie for the force of nature presences Christian has or how he makes her feel. Lord Anthony is making claims on Natalie that she doesn't want or need in her life period. Lord Anthony is stepping aside as Lord of the South but has no intentions of letting Christian Duvall become that Lord. Natalie witnesses a fight between Christian and one of Lord Anthony's child. Will Christian make Natalie his? Will Lord Anthony get his wish? Can Natalie escape Lord Anthony's claws? Your answers await you in Christian. I honestly don't know how D.B. Reynolds manages to keep this series fresh and unique but that's exactly what's happened. I love this series! The characters and storyline are real, raw, compelling, intriguing, blunt, gritty, powerful, and bold. I'm riveted from first to last page. Now it's a waiting game for the next book in the series. I'm so impatient for this next book. So I'll be trying her Shifter Planet Series to make my waiting a little bit easier. Until then Happy Reading!

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!! ***Received ebook from Belle Books for an honest review The cover is another work of art as they all are with a very handsome vampire on the cover :) This is the 10th book in the series, and it is for adults only due to the steamy scenes and violence. While reading in order is not required, you will enjoy the whole series much more if you read them all and in order. D.B. amazes me with her creativity and the way she puts words together that pull me right into the story. I love the vampire world she has created, and it is one of my favorite series! Christian was an unknown at the start of the book, but I quickly fell for the prospective vampire lord. Natalie is a amazing women who has strength and integrity that I admire. This book is an amazing read and packed with action and adventure as all of her books are. I highly recommend this series to any vampire PNR fans and especially if you already love D.B.! Now I have to wait for more of this fabulous series!! LOVE IT!!!

Christian is my present hero, my favorite bookboyfriend of the moment! :) I just finished reading this amazing book and so, my impression of this new Vampire Lord, is immenselly positive and strong. #10 in the Vampires in America series and #2 in the Vampire Wars book, it presents Christian, a European vampire that initially was linked to the people that tried to subdue Raphael in "Deception" but soon understood how wrong it was and has allied with Raphael and wants to rule the South. Anthony, the present Vampire Lord of the South didn't show up much on all the previous books but having the support of Raphael I couldn't imagine he'd be so stupid as to imagine he could manipulate events and vampires at will. This was an interesting change and it kept the my attention until the end, seeing how Anthony plotted and allied with the wrong people... er, vampires, to gain what he wanted most. Too bad that one of the things he wanted most was Natalie and Christian also wanted her. Anthony never had a chance. It ends with a cliffhanger, as usual, that left me worried about Sophia and Colin, one of my very favorite couples and it hurts.

Why is B&N always the last to get the eBook version? Ridiculous! All of her books are superbly well written and B&N are always in LAST PLACE for everything...

CHRISTIAN is an exciting and dangerously seductive read that will have you panting for more! Oh my goodness! D.B. Reynolds has outdone herself this time! The war between the North American and European vampires is heating up with the fight over the South (southern U.S. states). Ever since the previous Lord was killed, Raphael appointed a temporary Vampire to hold the territory…with Raphael’s backing, of course. With new powers in play, the game constantly changing and the seat of the South up for grabs, war is eminent. Sides are taken and loyalties are tested in this latest installment of the Vampires in America series! This book is SO exciting! I loved the politics and the new players on the scene. And I really enjoyed Christian. I’ll admit, when the story first began, he was stiff and sterile. Come to find out, that’s just his shield. When you get underneath his skin, you’ll find a hot-blooded, extremely sexy, erotically seductive and powerful Vampire. Not to mention he’s tall, blond, heavily muscled and French! Oo la la, indeed! Natalie is a half-Cajun/half-Creole spitfire from New Orleans with a snarky mouth and wicked intelligence. She definitely gives Christian a run for his money. They fit well together and their chemistry is off the charts! Their sex scenes are so hot, you’ll be scandalized for a week! The entire book was non-stop action! Several of the Vampire Lords make appearances as well as a few mates. And the epilogue is going to drive you crazy! It’s short, sweet and has just enough suspense to have you BEGGING for the next book! D.B. Reynolds just keeps getting better and better. Her stories are always well-written and entertaining. I would recommend CHRISTIAN and any of the author’s books, all day every day! ***I was gifted an eBook copy from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own***

Christian, Book 10 of The Vampires in America Series, D. B. Reynolds Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Genre:  Romance, Sci-fi and Fantasy This is one of my favourite Vampire series. Each book is almost a stand alone in that its a complete story, but there are threads of the battle to come, the European vampires that want to take over America, that weave through all the books. Slowly the parameters are set, the lines are being drawn and Allies forming, masterminded by the clever and intriguing Raphael ( books one and two). This time we meet Christian, child of Mathilde. She was killed in the last book after using some devious means to try to get to Raphael, and Christian refused to support her. Debbie’s vampires are tough, very Alpha, and hold their territories by power alone. Anthony holds the South after a battle there but isn’t strong enough to hold it himself, and has been supported by Raphael as a strategic move. It was actually Cynthia, Raphael's human mate, that killed the former Lord but of course that can’t get out – they have some very strong and traditional laws, and a human killing a vampire lord wouldn't be seen kindly. For that reason even though many suspect the truth its seen as Raphael that defeated him, but with his own territory to run he’s delegated Anthony. Now that support is being withdrawn, he’s helped with the set up and Anthony should have been able to manage, but he’s proved not to be up to it. He’s resigned, something unheard of, usually territories are gained by formal challenges or a battle to the death. Anthony is secretly working away underhandedly in the background though to keep himself in power in an area that suits him. He certainly doesn’t want Christian to be the next Lord, he’s far too strong to allow Anthony's plans to come to fruition.  Then there’s Natalie. She’s been working for Anthony for the past two years, he has her family in a stranglehold and she’s had to fall in with him. So far he’s kept it all circumspect and allowed her to do her job without any interference in her personal life, but as things heat up and he’s preparing his next move he has plans for her too, regardless of what she wants.  Its another torrid, fast moving, sensual read with action and drama throughout, interspersed with some searingly hot vampire sex. Those guys certainly know how to show a lady a good time....As always there are things from previous books that creep in, scenes that were set much earlier and that’s why I’d recommend reading the previous books to fully enjoy this one, even though its complete in itself. As with past books I loved it and it will join my keepers file. I find with Debbie’s books each time I re-read I find little things I missed first time round, little references to past events and clues for future ones. Some series get a bit tired after this many book but this is as fresh still as the first few books and I’m happy for it to continue. I look forward to more – looks like Sophia, the only female vampire Lord, is set to feature largely in the next book. Although she’s the only one in America at the moment there are some strong female characters placed throughout the series, both vampire and human, no simpering milksops here. They all have to be tough to survive the events that surround them.   Stars: Five, another fantastic instalment. ACTION-PACKED, INTRIGUING, RIVETING!! D.B.Reynolds at her absolute BEST!! Yes, Christian is all of this and more; he will have readers so utterly enthralled they will burn the midnight oil till the last page is read. I know readers will be just as enamoured by Christian as I am, and that’s a huge call, as Raphael owns my heart. But there’s just something delectable about this alluring Frenchman with his magnetic appeal. And as many times as I’ve thought that this series could not get any better; every time Ms Reynolds glories in proving me utterly wrong. A little about CHRISTIAN……. The European Vampires are breathing down North America’s neck, with the war for supremacy within the Vampire race now in full swing. Deception is around every corner and after the kidnap and torture of Raphael; the North American Vampire Lords are on high alert. But the time has come for Christian to make his presence known and enter the battle for leadership of the South and the much-coveted position of Vampire Lord, even if that means coming face to face with the most powerful Vampire known to man. It’s no secret that Raphael will play a huge part in deciding who is worthy of winning the ultimate prize that’s the South, as his alliances continue to grow among his peers. But with Christian’s undesirable link to the very woman who almost cost Raphael his very existence, he is subjected to Raphael’s penetrating scrutiny and Cyn’s unrelenting suspicion before he even walks through the door. Christian commands notice when he enters the room, with his charismatic French charm and devastating good looks, but when he arrives in the South and encounters Natalie Gaudet, he knows she is destined to be his. Smart, sassy and a vision of loveliness, Natalie captivates this formidable man from the moment they meet. But Christian must be constantly on his guard, as not only is a power struggle about to begin, but one of his rivals has designs of stripping him of more than just his pursuit of the South; someone wants what is ultimately not available, the woman that may very well be his destined his mate.
