From the USA Today bestselling author of Christmas at the Cottage comes the perfect holiday romance for "readers seeking a peppermint-filled, cozy Christmas contemporary" (Publishers Weekly).

'Tis the worst season to be single, but Kara Hastings won't let a little Christmas funk spoil the festive season. Sure, running her own bakery is a little harder than she expected, but she can handle it. And she'll prove it to a certain infuriatingly handsome, bossy Big City guy. She may be sugar and spice, but she can kick his butt twice.

Nate Griffin is in Briar Creek only for the holidays, and he refuses to fall for the whole "small town, candy cane-scented Christmas Wonderland" thing. He's more interested in the fresh-faced cookie chef who always knows exactly how to get under his skin. So when Nate challenges Kara in the town's big holiday contest, it's not just the competition that starts to heat up. If he's not careful, Kara won't just melt his icy resolve against a small-town Christmas . . . she'll melt his heart too.

Christmas Comes to Main Street is the 5th book in the Briar Creek Series by Olivia Miles. I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Christmas Comes to Main Street is sweet, heart warming, romantic and has all the holiday cheer that one would hope for in a Christmas book. Think snow and hot chocolate, mistletoe and decorations, cookies and baking, knits and boots, snuggling and kissing....a splendid and cozy holiday story! After job jumping a few times in her past, Kara Hastings has recently launched her very own cookie bakery, Sugar and Spice, and is working hard to prove to the naysayers that she's in it for keeps. The holidays are a busy time and she's just plowing through and hoping to be able to enjoy the sparkly season as well. All work and no play becomes much different when Nate Griffin enters her life. Suddenly her cookie delivery trips to Mrs. Griffin's Inn become much more appealing with her handsome nephew hanging around the lobby! Growing up in small town Briar Creek, Kara has never felt that whoosh of delight with a man as she does when she's in the presence of handsome Nate. She has a reality check though - Nate is around for the holidays only and she can't afford to spread her much valued baking time to a man that is just going to leave and quite possibly take a piece of her heart with him....yet, a girl's got needs and there's nothing wrong with enjoying the present while it's available, right? Nate goes from bah humbug to Mr Christmas pretty quickly in a town that does the holidays so well and is so welcoming to him, especially a very pretty Kara whom he longs for a glance of as much as possible each day. While helping his Aunt with her entry in the Holiday House contest he proposes a challenge to Kara in order to spend more time with her, have more to chat about. Nate knows that everything he's built is far away from this peaceful and cozy town but he can't shake the dread he feels at leaving this place that is quickly becoming special....and maybe it's even more so the pretty bakery owner that is becoming special... I really may have to re-read this one in December again because it absolutely encompassed every whimsical and delightful image of Christmas time that one could imagine! So sweet, so romantic, and as usual I adore Briar Creek as a town and all the characters' quirks and charms and sense of community and fellowship. I've read Briar Creek since the beginning of the series and I say with enthusiasm that I've gotten great enjoyment from each book! I feel that I've grown to know and love each character, each nuance of the town, and I just love the seasons, holidays and romance incorporated. It's just perfect and delightful! Happy Reading to all, Christmas Comes to Main Street sure is "sugar and spice" and EVERYTHING nice!

A sweet Christmas romance that will have you munching on Christmas cookies by the dozen. All the talk of Christmas bakery items in this book will have you sneaking cookies throughout the read. I've read oodles of Christmas stories recently and this one has a very sweet romance in it. As another reviewer mentioned this series would be an awesome Hallmark Christmas movie.

Let a Holiday Romance melt your heart as an elderly, yet sneaky aunt, a big city man who Bah Humbugs the Season with his past memories and a small-town wild child turned business owner discover there is more to the Season than one can see, unless they are looking with their heart. Olivia Miles brings Christmas to life, complete with all of the pressures humanity puts on the season with a heartwarming tale of, yep, you guessed it, L-O-V-E. CHRISTMAS COMES TO MAINSTREET is a delightful read, light, fluffy and sweet, like the cookies Kara Hastings bakes in her new little bakery! Kara is working hard to make her business flourish, including doing her own deliveries. Nate has come to town to celebrate Christmas with his aunt, the owner of the local inn. To say he isn’t thrilled with the prospect of missing out on the hustle and bustle of the Big City would be an understatement, so when he literally bumps into Kara and destroys a box of her special cookies, let’s say they didn’t get off to a great start. Is it possible that the magic of the season has a sense of humor and is about to create its own special recipe for love? Can two people from diverse backgrounds stop assuming the worst about each other long enough to really see the person under the winter coat? Past memories can weigh heavily on one’s heart, but the past is gone and here are two people who need to learn to look to the future with open minds and hearts. Olivia Miles has taken a slice of reality and sprinkled in her own special ingredients of attraction, competitiveness and a group of people who mean well, but seem to be missing out on the true meaning of the season. She topped all of this with two people in need of real love and joy and has come up with a cozy read that will make you smile, sigh and yes, that IS peppermint in the air!

We have been having a very warm fall, so thoughts of Christmas are very far away. However, Olivia Miles’s latest (last?) book in the Briar Creek series, Christmas Comes to Main Street, was too enticing not to read now instead of saving for cooler weather. I’ve been hooked on this sweet series from the beginning. Miles has created a character in her fictional town of Briar Creek and it is always fun to visit. Buried in the holiday cheer is the series message that sometimes we have to let go of the past to truly embrace the future. Kara and Nate both learn this lesson, though Nate far more than Kara, as they enjoy the holiday season and find their own HEA. As with all small town series, we get to catch up with previous characters along the way allowing us to see the HEAs have moved forward. We also get to revisit the annual Christmas production of the Nutcracker. As Christmas books go, this one is pretty much perfect. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

This is a delightful, heartwarming story that will put you in the Christmas spirit even if it’s the middle of summer. The author has created well-developed characters that readers will become fond of and wish were real friends. As the story unfolds the main two characters evolve and grow giving depth to the story. The small town atmosphere is the perfect setting that will draw you in and hold you captive until the last page. The story moves at a good pace making it a hard book to put down. CHRISTMAS COMES TO MAIN STREET is the fifth installment in the series, but can be read on its own. This charming story will have you humming a Christmas tune before you are half way through it. FTC Full Disclosure – A copy of this book was sent to me by the publisher in hopes I would review it. However, receiving the complimentary copy did not influence my review. The thoughts are completely my own and given honestly and freely.

The holidays are upon the inhabitants of Briar Creek, and Kara Hastings and her cookies and gingerbread houses are in big demand. Kara barely has time to do anything besides make all of the cookies, but her bakery is a labor of love, and she's determined to make a go of it. Nate Griffin, in town to spend the holiday with his elderly aunt, knows a thing or two about business and life in the big city, but spending time relaxing, not so much. Life in Briar Creek is very far away from his normal, and getting in touch with small-town life and into the Christmas spirit will be good for him. And maybe, just maybe, spending time with Kara will be good for him, too... I'm not going to lie, Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. So while people are still getting excited about all things pumpkin, I'm looking forward to decking the halls and settling down with a nice cup of tea and a big pile of holiday books. Not that I want to speed by the rest of the autumn season, mind you, but there's just something about Christmas that has always been extra-special to me. CHRISTMAS COMES TO MAIN STREET by author Olivia Miles is a perfect match for me right now, because it has all of the elements that make the idea of the holidays in a small, closely-knit community such the standard. Think IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, but moved forward to current day, with less of the angst and all of the feel-good moments. I like Kara very much. Having lost her father at a young age, she's spent much of her life trying to find her way. Opening her bakery is a way for her to honor her dad, and to feel his presence, and she is determined to prove the town nay-sayers wrong and make a real success of her new business. With Christmas just weeks away, Kara feels a little bit overwhelmed, so when Nate arrives, his head for business at the forefront even while on vacation, she's happy to incorporate some of his ideas. Nate is an interesting guy. For someone that has been judged so often over the course of his early life, he's quick to form an opinion of Kara that could not be further from the truth. It doesn't take much time for Briar Creek to work its magic on him, and, soon enough, Nate is finding that things are not necessarily as he thought. And when a friendly competition gets thrown into the mix, Nate and Kara will both be changed in more ways than they could have imagined. CHRISTMAS COMES TO MAIN STREET is my first visit to Briar Creek, but it will not be my last. The characters, the small-town charm, the sense of family that is present throughout, makes this a series that I would like to see more of. 4 heartwarming, feel-good stars for this read. It's time to start getting in the spirit, so add it to your TBR, grab your hot beverage of choice, and enjoy.

Actual Rating: 4.5 Stars Christmas Comes to Main Street was such a sweet and enjoyable read. I fell for the characters instantly and devoured their story in just a few short hours. Christmas Comes to Main Street is a light, sweet romance. It has very little drama and is just one of those books that can't help but make you feel good and put a smile on your face. And I enjoyed every second of it.

Anything he can do, I can do better ... With a business to run, Kara has no time for arrogant and infuriating distractions. Her pride won't allow her to surrender to self-doubt or ask for help. It certainly won't allow her to be bested by an outsider with a superiority complex. Nate has a massive ego and rather large chip on his shoulder. Olivia Miles, generates major sparks with Christmas Comes to Main Street. A battle of the sexes mixed in with loveable holiday charm makes Kara and Nate, a tempting treat for any sweet tooth. Briar Creek is a great place to spend some down time.
