Christmas Gif' is a delightful collection of poems, short stories, songs, recipes, and illustrations, relating to the Black American experience of Christmas from slavery to the mid-20th century. If I remember correctly, there's 'The Legend of the Brown King' by Langston Hughes, and 'Kid Stuff' by Frank Horne--my favorite Christmas poem. One short story tells of an embittered Black glazier and his stained-glass window. Stories from slavery times illustrate the 'Christmas Gif'!' tradition from where this anthology gets its name. I bought this book for my sister's family years ago, and I keep borrowing it!
