What could make Christmas even better for your child? How about if God could speak to your child? Can you imagine the look on your child's face? This book has the next best thing! Each story featured in the book has a love letter from God to your child. The seven Bible stories, centered around Christmas, begin with Isaiah's prophecy to the visit of the three wise men. The illustrations are a beautiful accompaniment to the stories. Children, ages 4-8, will learn so much from the lessons included within the pages. I read it to some four-year-olds and while the story was a bit too long for their shorter attention spans, they were thrilled to open the love letter and listen to God's words for them. It's almost as good as having your little friend whisper a special secret in your ear. I rated this book 5 stars and highly recommend it to inquisitive little ones. This would also be a wonderful teaching tool for teachers in Christian schools, Sunday School, and Children's Church. This book was a gift and my review was my own decision and all opinions expressed are my own.

Just in time for Christmas! This adorable children's book contains the Biblical version of the Christmas story written in a captivating way. Since this volume is geared toward ages four to eight, the story is told in simple language that a child will understand. There is an abundance of beautiful illustrations done in brilliant colors that will appeal to little ones. This over-sized volume has high quality paper that is ready to stand up to many years of "love" and happy reading. Little ones will find plenty of interaction between the covers of this hard backed book. That is because this is a lift-the-flap book. Scattered throughout the story are flaps, which when lifted, will reveal a letter from God underneath. Each letter summarizes the story in a very down to earth way. The letters can also be personalized by writing the child's name on the blank at the top of each one. The author presents the story with everyday examples that children will relate to. Ms. Nellist uses the twinkling stars in the night sky as a reminder of the real light of the world. She compares the happy feeling that comes from hearing Christmas carols to the joy Mary felt inside herself when hearing about Jesus. By doing that, this narrative becomes very real to both the child, as well as, the one doing the reading. I wasn't prepared for how beautiful and delightful this book would be, it was a real pleasure to view. From the first look at the cover, to the surprise of finding flaps that reveal letters underneath, reading this book is a memorable adventure. The simple, but complete, retelling of the Christmas story, along with the enchanting illustrations, will make all hearts ready for this special time of the year. I would highly recommend Christmas Love Letters for every child as a five-plus star book that will become a staple for years to come. Christmas Love Letters from God is another new edition to our family's 25 days of Christmas books collection. I am especially excited about this one because I love Glenys Nellist's writing and particularly her other Love Letters from God books. The sparkle in my grands eyes when they read a personalized letter from God is absolutely priceless. The story of Christ's birth is told through seven different sections and they begin with the prophesy in Isaiah. After we hear from Isaiah we switch to Mary and her visit from the angel. Glenys' version of the Magnificat is beautiful. Next is Joseph and his dream. And then the couple are off on their trip to Bethlehem. The story of Christ's birth is told in a way that will stick with you for a long time. Then we get the account of the shepherds and finally the wise men. While this book isn't probably for the littlest ones on their own. (There are flaps for each of the letters that little hands may tear.) It is sure to be a delight for the whole family year after year. We're in the process of replacing some of our oldest Christmas board books and I am absolutely thrilled with this one. Rachel Clowes' art work and Glenys Nellist's words combine to tell the Christmas story accurately yet uniquely. I'm sure that your family will come to love it as much as ours has. I was provided a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

Christmas Love Letters from God: Bible Stories by Glenys Nellist is a fantastic book to add to your child's holiday reading list! It's written for children 4-8 and cleverly combines both prose and poetry as the story of Jesus’ birth unfolds. The book includes seven stories, beginning with Isaiah’s prophecy and ending with the visit of the wise men. My kids favorite part of Christmas Love Letters from God: Bible Stories by Glenys Nellist is find the letter from God, folded into a small envelope attached to the page. I love that a very special Bible verse, entitled God’s Perfect Promise, also accompanies each story and letter as God’s personal words of love, promise, and hope. Christmas Love Letters from God: Bible Stories by Glenys Nellist does an amazing job to make kids feel special and loved by God!
