In Chronos, in the year 2132, Zach Murphy is a member of an elite group of commandos called the Wolverines. On the frontier of man’s expansion into space, and too far from Earth to receive assistance, battles are frequently fought with a mix of easy to maintain twentieth century weaponry and devastating technology.
Murphy’s squad is called upon to fight huge military robots while using only handheld weapons. Survival is not likely. Failure is not an option. The freedom of mankind is at stake as the eclectic squad of commandos spearheads the effort to free the enslaved population of Chronos from the grasp of a totalitarian organization. Several surprises aid the team as they uncover the secrets of the planet’s population, both human and alien.

This book is a great read if you like military science fiction. It contains a lot of technical detail about weaponry. Although if you're expecting to read about "ray guns", you'll be disappointed. Based on the premise that modern weapons would be difficult to maintain so far from a supply source, the characters actually use old-fashioned weapons in their fights with robots. It's a quick read with a good plot. Left me wanting a sequel.
I have read the Gulag Moon before i read Chronos and had an idea what to expect. The book follows a couple of guys in a mercenary militia as they go to Chronos to fight off the Syndicate, an army funded by the mining coprerations. I thought the action was awesome. Good read. 104 pages.
One dimensional characters in a stilted story that reads like a fifth grade class asignment.
