Minni and her family members evacuated the small city of Port Arthur, Texas fleeing to safety from Hurricane Rita. Hurricane Rita's water and wind gust destroyed and damaged many homes and buildings in Port Arthur. Chuckles has been the family pet for more than twenty years. Each family member has a favorite Chuckles' story to tell and contributed to this true story "Chuckles and Hurricane Rita" written by Minni. Minni retired from Beaumont Independent School District where she worked as an educational diagnostician. Currently, she works part time as a speech and language therapist in the Port Arthur School District. She is a member of the Golden Triangle Writer's Guild. George Ann Ballard, an author and longstanding member of the GTWG inspired Minni to write Chuckles' story.
