All I can say is wow!! Chloe T. Barlow did it again! Three Rivers was a favorite for me, so I have been waiting for C of C. I was not disappointed!! This is the story of Jenna, an independent doctor who has had a sad childhood. Wyatt McCoy is the cocky football player who needs her help. When they meet, the sparks fly! This book has it all ... love, sex, heartbreak, grief! I am now anxiously waiting for my next dose of these amazing characters!! Great job Chloe!!!

City of Champions is Chloe Barlow’s second book in her Gateway to Love series. This is a standalone book but I recommend reading the first book in the series, Three Rivers, first as many of the characters and certain situations are introduced in it. From the outset, this book had me. The emotions that came through the opening pages of the prologue was heart wrenching. Jenna Sutherland encounters a tragedy that no one at the age of six should have to ever face. Then, fast forward twenty-four years and she’s facing another circumstance that greatly affects her. She’s an orthopedic surgeon vying for a prestigious position at the local hospital and is rejected. Wyatt McCoy is a famous quarterback for the hometown team. He, too, is vying to remain the number one quarterback on the team. Facing surgery from an injury that he’s trying to hide, Jenna analyzes his passes and determines that there’s something wrong. Faced with losing his position, Wyatt agrees to a second opinion with Jenna. She honestly analyzes his condition but a face from his past discloses something else to the media that calls into questions Jenna ethics. Both Jenna and Wyatt’s scarred pasts greatly affect who they are. As each of them works through their issues, a love is found. Chloe Barlow writes a story like no other. The deep layers to the stories and characters keep you turning the pages expecting one outcome only to discover something else. This is a fabulous series and I can’t wait for the next installment in the series.

This is book two in A Gateway to Love Series.  This book can be read as a standalone, but does have the same characters in this book as the first one, they are just centered around a new couple.  I would suggest reading the first book and then reading this one. It will be a lot more enjoyable.  I gave this book 5 stars.  This is Wyatt and Jenna's story. This story is so different from Three Rivers. This book is more centered around sports and the love of the game. If you love football and a love story you're going to LOVE this book.  Being a football fan I fell right into the story line. Even if you're not a fan of football you will love this book. It will grab you and suck you right in so be fair warned. I started this book and never set it down. My eyes were burning and I just kept saying I will just read one more chapter. LOL  Yeah it is def one of those books. Chloe's books seem to grab you and do something to you. This book started right off with tugging at your heart, it gives you a glimpse into Jenna's life when she was younger and why she has all the walls up that she does. Those walls are high, and Wyatt has a huge job ahead of him, and although he starts off not being the most honest man about why he wants involved with Jenna he quickly falls for the blonde, blue eyed beauty. So much that if she ever found out his secret and he lost her it would probably destroy him. Jenna refuses to let anyone in that she can't control. She has had so much loss in her life that she would rather be alone then deal with someone else leaving her. She is sometimes so blunt that it comes off as her being a little B**ch. But Jenna is far from that, she is such a beautiful soul that just needs some love and some reassurance that she is worthy of being loved. She is so scared that she is going to lose everything that she never even gives it a try.  Not only will you love Wyatt and Jenna. You will love these side characters too. You get to see the old gang from the first book and fall even more in love with them. I cannot wait to read Aubrey's story this girl is wild and full of fire! I just know it is going to be an exciting book. This woman is so full of spunk you don't know whether to love her or smack her at times. She is something else.. You get more of Tea, Griffen and Johnny. You meet new characters and fall in love with them too.  This gives you a glimpse into the life of two people who have been hurt for different reasons in their life. It shows you what each one of them has to do to let the other one in. It shows you what can happen when you trust the wrong people and let them control the things that you do. It will have you laughing, smiling, crying and everything in between. This book is about love and second chances. It is about wanting more out of life and taking the risk no matter what the consequences. Give this series a shot you won't be sorry! Chloe has scored another touchdown once again!!! I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.. When I found out who was up next I did a happy dance!!!!! Thank you Chloe for another fantastic book!! You rock !!!

It all starts with a box of tissues. I started this book before going into work and then got there with red puffy eyes. This is another amazing book by Chloe T Barlow. It had me hooked from the first page. Loss, Love, challenge, and don't forget forgiveness and Lust. I will defiantly read this book and Three Rivers the first in the series over multiple times. They are both amazing love stories that I can't get enough of.

I was hooked after the first line, the first chapter had me crying my eyes out in an ugly cry. This book is so powerfully written that it amazes me. Unfortunately as a part-time reviewer sometimes you have to fit reading in when you can. I started City of Champions in the evening and had to work the next day wondering what was going to happen next. You will not believe how badly I wanted to call in sick, but instead I had to just wish I could pull my kindle out and read at work... lol I love the humor and emotion that Chloe Barlow put into this book. It has a little be of everything a good romance should have to keep the story moving and leave you wanting more...

This book is deserving of more than 5 stars! It has to be one of the best, stunningly perfect books I have ever read. When I ugly cry in the prologue, yes the prologue, I know I am in for the emotional ride of my life! This book delivers everything a reader of contemporary romance could want: smiles, laughter, tears, angst, love, romance, trials, tribulations, a strong female lead (Jenna), a bold male lead (Wyatt), fabulous secondary characters and the all important HEA ending. Jenna and Wyatt's story strongly spoke to me and absolutely melted my heart. I found it extremely difficult to put this book down, and the twists, turns, and unexpected events kept me mesmerized on the edge of my seat. Chloe Barlow writes in a way in which one can easily picture everything that happens. Her writing pulls you in, her words encircle you and while you read nothing else in the world matters. When the book ends you find yourself satisfied, happy, crying yet desiring more of Jenna and Wyatt. It's just that dang good!!!!! Kudos to Chloe Barlow for presenting readers with a story they will long hold dear in their hearts as well as think about for days to come. I absolutely "floved" City of Champions!!!!!! Read it! You won't be disappointed.

I just have to say that Three Rivers, Book 1 in the Gateway to Love series, is one of my top reads of 2014 and City of Champions is now on that list too!! I love this author, these characters and these books. The writing is outstanding and the relationships are so wonderful that I want to be friends with all of them. We met Jenna in Three Rivers and City of Champions is her story. Well, Jenna and Wyatt's story. Jenna is a doctor who comes face to face with a player she's followed since college. He's cocky, confident and a royal pain in her ass! Little does she know that Wyatt has set his sights on Jenna for more than her looks and his attraction to her. He's injured and needs a doctor. Jenna is smart, sassy and professional and she fights their chemistry until one day she just can't stay away from him. He's sexy and everything that she knows she should stay away from but his confidence, humor and determination win her over. She agrees to a holiday affair not knowing that he might have ulterior motives for wanting to be close to her. She throws in her whole body, soul and heart and isn't sure if she'll end up whole on the other side. The banter between Jenna and Wyatt is hilarious. I just love his smart ass mouth! Their spark is HOT! And, of course seeing Griffen, Tea, Aubrey, and TREY was a bonus! Sorry, I have a rather large crush on Trey (guess what? His book is next!) I laughed, cried, smiled, cursed, yelled, cried and laughed more! Will Jenna be able to trust Wyatt again? Will he realize his mistake before it's too late? Do NOT miss this amazing story!! "Oh, the text. It's all coming back now. Unfortunately. Ugh, I can't even do a booty call right anymore. I really am a disaster." She threw the cover back over her head. "I can't believe I did that. If I didn't feel like I was about to die, I'd run and hide right now." He stood and began to lead her out when she stopped short. "What's that? Is that a guitar?" "Yep." "You play?" "I do. I sing, too." "You're kidding me." "No. That's not happening. I want to look at you. I feel like I've wanted to look at you for forever. F***. I think you're going to make me go insane. I may have to lock you up here just so I can keep looking at you." "Wyatt, your shoulder!" "F*** my shoulder." "That wasn't really what I had in mind. I'm more interested in taking advantage of the rest of your body," she teased. "But I don't want you to hurt yourself more." "I told you, it's not as bad as you think. Ow." "Dammit, put me down, Wyatt, you're going to hurt yourself." "Stop it, woman. I just banged my knee on the doorway while you were distracting me. Now, back to bed with you, you're talking too much," he said, on a low chuckle He was just so beautiful, with his brown eyes, just barely flecked with hints of gold. His lips were curled into a smile, momentarily hiding how they were almost too full and soft-looking for a man — almost. His hair was tousled and messy, making her want to run her fingers through it, perhaps to smooth it, or maybe to send it into further disarray. She hadn't yet decided. "Enough. Please. Are you always this cocky and unserious?" "Actually, if you asked most people that know me, they'd probably say I'm generally more of a grumpy a**hole." "So this is a rare treat you reserve for me?" "What can I say, Doc? You bring out the best in me," he answered, with a smirk.

I won a contest and received an ARC of this book.  I loved the first book in the series, so I was excited to read this one. The book starts on a sad note. I mean, I can’t remember if I have ever read a book that had me ugly crying in the Prologue. Yes, the prologue. So I knew that this was going to be a good read and it did not disappoint. We first met Jenna in the series’ first book, Three Rivers. Her path in life has been shaped by the events in the prologue and she has become a successful orthopedic surgical resident. She has avoided taking any kind of risk in all aspects of her life, especially when it comes to love. Then she meets Wyatt McCoy. He’s a cocky, sexy football player who thinks that he will be able to make Jenna see things his way. She gives him a diagnosis that he does not want to hear and sets out to change her mind. Despite his ulterior motive, he quickly falls for Jenna. And despite her life of not taking risks, Jenna throw caution to the wind and quickly realizes that she is falling for Wyatt. Unfortunately, things do not go as planned and Wyatt and Jenna’s relationship is put to the test. I loved Wyatt. Even when I was extremely disappointed in him I couldn’t help but feel sorry for him. The author wrote his character in way that made you want to cheer for him and hope that everything would work out in the end. I could list all the sexy, sigh worthy parts that I highlighted but then this review would be VERY long. I will just say that it will take a lot for any of the other men in this series to dethrone Wyatt as the swooniest one of all. One thing that I really enjoyed about this book was the changing dynamic between Althea, Aubrey and Jenna. Their lives taking very different paths and the author was able to portray those feelings in a very realistic way. I related to Aubrey and the feelings she was having because I have gone through/am going through the same type of situations. It’s not very common for a book to tackle this subject and I’m happy that this book did. Another thing that I liked best about this book was that we got know a little but more about Trey. He becomes a great friend to Jenna and is there for her when she shuts out everyone else. This book just made me even more curious about him and thank god his book is next! We get a sneak peek let’s just say that Trey will have his hands full.

I am not, in general, a blubber. But City of Champions reduced me to a helpless, ugly mess of tears in places. It's *that* affecting. Chloe shows that she has the writing chops to follow through on the promise of her debut novel with a subtle, gritty romance that's as warm as it is sad and as edgy as it is cozy. After the awesomeness that was Griffen in the first book, I wasn't sure if I was going to like Wyatt. But the cocky, damaged footballer proved to be every bit as good as the author and, once I'd warmed to him, I was rooting for him all the harder because I felt I'd misjudged him. Jenna, too, is every bit as well drawn and as likable as Tea. Chloe throws in some sucker punches I didn't see coming - she has a real knack for taking the story where you didn't expect it to go. I loved it and I'm now eagerly awaiting the next book. I was a beta reader for this book and so received a complimentary, pre-release copy. Helena Newbury (B&N's site wouldn't let me create a pen name).
