From the author of "Youth in Revolt" comes this hilarious new “musical” novel of teenage sisters from Ohio who “light a small cherry bomb” under their minister father’s campaign for the Vice Presidency of the United States. While one lovely sister dallies with a picketing environmentalist, her sexy identical twin conspires with a trench-coated reporter to “blow the lid off the elections.” The pace is hectic and the laughs non-stop as the wild and eccentric characters suddenly break into “song.” Payne’s sharply focused wit displays more bite than even the candidates’ attack ads. Cast your vote now for the funniest, most inventive novel of the year!

Pulled from the same manic-depressive vein as 'Youth in Revolt', Civic Beauties is definitely worth the time it takes to read it.
I think this book was really good. I don't really read too many books but this one was really good. I think it is pretty life like instead of the usual fake stuff you get in a book.
