This charming story follows the adventures of Duck.  The lyrical text of Duck's busy day includes verbal sound effects to enhance the clacking noise of the format.  Parents and caregivers are always looking for books that will engage babies and very young children and this one is perfect!  And it's just the right size for little hands, diaper bags, strollers, and cribs.  The colorful simple illustrations make this a must-have for baby's first library.

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Kathleen Karr
The series of creature-shaped board books, which also includes Bunny, was reformatted from Great Britain's original Clackety-Clacks. There must be some inherent infant/toddler musical mystique required to make it work, because this adult could not coax a single clack from the purported clacker in hand, patented or not. That quibble aside, what remains are seven smallish story boards connected to a finger-sized hole in the duck's, um, rear end/tail. And inside? Bright and bold illustrations of what Duck loves to do—mainly cavort with his water-loving friends living atop and within his pond. The text is uncredited generic: "Duck loves to swim with turtle! . . Splash! Splash!" "Duck loves to play with frog! . . .Boing! Boing!" But the clever parent can probably expand upon the basic themes. "How about that Ladybug hanging onto the flower for dear life?" Ah, yes. Clever storytellers can always make mountains out of molehills. Reviewer: Kathleen Karr
