A lot of things about parenting are unique, but some things are universal. This book exposes the universal challenges that all parents face and reveals how God uses our children to open our eyes to our own hearts. It doesn't matter how young or old our children may be; the Lord parents us as we parent them. The pages in Clean Home, Messy Heart give us his words, which address our hearts and empower us to persevere in our mission to “train up our children.” Listen up and be encouraged while you read this book. Laugh, cry, and praise God that he understands everything there is to know about parenting.

This book is dripping with scripture, which makes it easy to be encouraged by the truths of God's word, during this draining time of motherhood. The author makes me laugh with her stories, relieving the pressures of motherhood. And then equips me with scriptures that can pull me through even the loneliest and hopeless of times! And it's an easy read!! Designed for moms-on-the-go! I could read it again and again and again!

The Forward is written by a hilarious and real child of God who speaks of her beautiful journey in motherhood. The book itself is a beautiful look at how God is at work in the messiest of moments in our life. Christine paints a picture of everyday moments we have all faced and fills them with God glorifying truths leading us back to the word and the cross. The book is a quick read yet rich with scripture, which is exactly what we need as busy moms. The "Bathing in Prayer" sections are so eloquently written that I have them strategically placed in my home and office as reminders. Beautifully written, gospel filled, and rich with the amazing message of Gods grace.

In Psalm 1 it talks about how blessed is the man (which of course includes all of us) who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the ungodly. It tells us how to be like a tree planted by streams of water. It tells us that the way we can be like this person, planted and blessed and fruitful, is to delight ourselves in and meditate on the law of the Lord day and night. The other side of getting counsel from the ungodly is of course to receive counsel from the godly; one who delights in and meditates on God's word. You will find that kind of counsel within the pages of this book. I promise! You will find grace and truth that will not leave you looking at Christine and thinking about how amazing she is, and she is amazing, but you will walk away stunned at how amazing God is and how infinitely able he is to come to us and meet us right where we are no matter where we are in this journey called motherhood and just personhood in general. In this book, by God’s amazing grace, you will receive his counsel, through every story she shares and through every scripture she walks us through and helps us to apply to our very real messy and sometimes ugly hearts; you’ll find God’s word, and his counsel. I love the quotes she begins each chapter with. I love that she tells us just enough of her story to draw us into a place where we can hear God more clearly on whatever issue the story is bringing to light. My favorite part of each chapter is these sections: Washing with the Word – Bathing in Prayer – Hanging our Hearts out to Dry. There are plenty of books and studies available today that, in my opinion, spend way too much time focused on me why I am the way I am, maybe throwing in a few scriptures for good measure. You will not find that here. Christine just takes us to Jesus! She takes us right to the source of living water and she doesn’t just say “there it is now go drink up”...but she takes the time to first, make sure we know how desperate our thirst is, then she takes the time to really show us how to drink and how to trust the promise that Jesus and only Jesus can satisfy the deepest longing of our messy hearts. I plan to take as many as I can on this journey with me. Just a quick note about me: I am a mother of 8 children, 2 who are home with the Lord, and 2 granddaughters. I also have a beautiful step-daughter who gave me 5 grandchildren. I have been a single mother for most of my time as a mom and am one now. I still have 2 children to finish raising, praise God; 12 and 16. Thank you for trusting God Christine and writing this book for us.
