Overview

Uniquely organized by symptom rather than organ or pathology, Roger Sanders’s Clinical Sonography, 5e, not only ensures mastery of the content and competencies required for diagnostic sonography, it teaches students to think critically and “sonographically” as they prepare for certification exams and clinical practice. In every chapter, students first encounter a diagnostic problem to be solved and then follow pathways of exploration that help them identify the cause of the original presenting symptom.

Retaining its trademark concise, easy-to-understand writing style, consistent format, and clinical approach, the Fifth Edition is enhanced by a revised organization, new images and in-book learning tools, new content that reflects today’s practice environment, and a revised art and design program designed to meet the needs of today’s highly visual students.

I got this book on one of my trips in the USA couple of years ago, while searching for know-it-all book. With this book you can make the most of the real-time examination, evaluating the patient dynamically. As an european resident doctor in a junior year now, who does roughly 40 U/S examinations a day, there are times I still go back to the book and flip it though. It is great in several aspects -the book gives you all you might need -from relevant laboratory values through alternative positions to visualize what you need to see even in cases you are unable to get the needed picture due to whatever reasons. It is nicely organized, with plenty of pictures and schemes, easy to read and look up the info you need at the spot, although not much detailed on diseases themselves it is, however, rich in describing the sonografic appearance of a disease -and that's what is important for a radiologist... In other words, this book gives you the tool to examine a patient and uncover the reason of patients's complaints. Great foundations to build on and a necessary reference you might want to keep at hand !
