I don't know why parents let their children read these books. I know of many a parent who complain about their child wanting to grow up too fast and the cliques at school, and then hands their child a Clique novel. The girls in this series are completley snobish and rude. I hear some girls saying Massie is their role modle and am appaled for two reasons. One reason is that Massie glorifies vainity and ostracizing peers. Another is that I too, was once one of these short-sighted girls. I am not some adult trying to ruin a pre-teens fun. I am a seventh grader who was exactly like Alicia, the beta. I look back at what I did to others in horror and know that I was influenced by these books because my group of friends was exactly like the 'Pretty Committee.' I hope to open the eyes of people who read these books and then go around acting like Massie and her friends. In conclusion, these books, while well written, send a terrible message and give a horrible example.

For those who say that this book is entirely awful and a bad influence, remember that most of the teens who read this are in middle school. By the time they get to high school, they'll have matured enough to realize that this isn't how you actually act around people and it's just a book. I read this series when I was in Middle school and it influenced me, of course. However, now I'm a junior in high school and I realized long ago that this is just a series of books in a fictional town with fictional people. If anything, this series helps you learn to deal with people who act like this because you're going to meet a lot of them. Let your children read them, but make sure they don't end up like the Kardasians, and trust me, majority of girls who have read these books don't actually stay influenced like this, maybe a small percentage, but not all. And don't read the first book and form the worst opinion, you have to read all of them and notice how the characters develop.

The book I chose to write a book review on is The Clique. It's a very well written, teenage girl's novel. Lisi Harrison is a very good author. She writes about what teenage girls want to read. Some of the stuff that happens in The clique happens in real life situations. The Clique is the first book of Lisi Harrison's Clique series. The Clique is The New York Times bestselling series. I recommended this book to a couple of my friends, and now they love the series also. The Clique is about a clique called the Pretty Committee. Massie Block is the leader of Alicia, Dylan, and Kristen. The only thing harder than getting in the clique, is staying in the clique. They are the most popular girls in school. Then, Massie's father's best friend moves into Massie's guest house. Claire use to live in Florida where it was ok to wear GAP. But here in New York, it's all designer clothes. Claire tries her best to fit in, but Massie doesn't want her in her clique. Massie, Alicia, Dylan, and Kristen will do everything they can to sabotage Claire. What they don't know is that Claire has some of her own tricks up her sleeve. Claire pulls some pretty good pranks back on the Pretty Committee. Like making the clique think that Massie has been lying to them the whole time. In my opinion The Clique is one of the best books I have ever read. Once you start reading it you won't be able to put it down.

I really ah-dore the Clique series! I only have the first six, but there is an eleventh one coming out in July and I'm so excited! And the Summer Collection I haven't read yet either, but reviews say that it isn't the best but is a great read for Clique fans. I've read a lot of reviews that say that this series isn't very realistic. Let me tell you- I am not surprised at these girls' behavior. I go to school with a bunch of preppy rich girls as well, but I must say that although they aren't as bratty as these rich girls, I often find myself in the position of Claire, trying to decide whether or not I should be in the "clique." Overall, a great book series! And these boxed sets make it way easy to purchase the books instead of searching high and low for the next book in the series. :) Hehe, lol, "Sharing With Friends" and "Finding Yourself" do not apply at all to these books :p

You don't know who I am (a mother of an 11 year old in Rhode Island), so why trust what I say? But you can believe what you read in one of the greatest newspapers in the U.S. Read Naomi Wolf's excellent review, "Young Adult Fiction: Wild Things," published March 12, 2006 in the New York Times (NYT). You can find this article online on the NYT website. Ms. Wolf's book review tells the truth about the Clique, Gossip Girl and A-List novels. A thinking parent would not choose these books!! As a parent, you don't have time to read every book your child reads. But you owe it to your daughter to read Ms. Wolf's review.

Ever have the feeling like the ¿outsider¿ of your school and you just have to be in the ¿popular clique¿, and would do anything to get in? The book, The Clique, talks about a girl named Claire, the outsider, wants to get into the ¿pretty committee clique¿. ¿The pretty committee girls¿ are, Massie, Alicia, Dylan, and Kristin. They are the girls of their school. Claire wants to be in that clique so bad, that she would lie and deceive to be liked and that sometimes means outing certain enemies.
I believe the book is an amazing novel and most girls can relate to it. The book is also, very superior, I got into the book and I couldn¿t put it down. The drama and action and problems just make u think, ¿what¿s going to happen next?!¿ The author, Lisi Harrison, is an amazing author. A theme throughout this novel would be to not try to be something you aren¿t. The genre of The Clique is fiction.
