What a wonderful story that kept me turning the pages. I couldn’t put it down. Filled with romance (though not to heavy to distract form the main plot but enough to deepen character development), action, thrills and secrets, this book is sure to tickle anyone who enjoys this genre. The world-building and Character crafting pleased me; and I really bought this book on a whim and now I need to get the last two books of the series to complete my collection. I wasn’t left feeling like there was something unanswered, everything was answered in it’s own time. I loved it. I can’t find much to fault about this book.

Great unique premise for their society, imainative caste array, well written, wonderful characters. I enjoyed this book so very much! Already bought the next two in the series.

A fun, action packed romance that's a wonderful introduction to the Steampunk genre. Ondinium is a dark city with a highly stratified and rigid societal structure. Taya is a wonderful heroine, full of pluck, curiosity and courage who has the rare social position, as an icarus. She is part of a separate and distinct group that can work across social barriers, but doesn't really belong to any one. It's a position not unlike the English governess' household position in the 20th century -not a member of the family, yet not a servant either. The romance is quite tame -if it were a movie it would be G-rated -but it's well developed and paced well. And both the hero and heroine have foibles and flaws that make them endearing and memorable.
