Notwithstanding The Horn Book Co. reviews of this entire series, which range between merely unflattering and truly negative, I have found a number of the books in this series to be entertaining and educational. We are not from Louisiana and have no personal ties to the place. That being said, the stories are charming, and the introduction to French (Cajun style) is educational. Finally, I must take issue with the charge that the Etienne Escargot book lacks appeal for children; my four-year old loves the story.
