Coastal Elite by Kate Canterbary

Jordan Kaisall has problems.
Business problems, political problems, cheating ex-girlfriend problems. He knows that a week away from the Washington D.C. Beltway won't do a damn bit of good for those problems, but his beach house in Montauk is exactly where he needs to be right now.

April Veach has plans.
Work plans, travel plans, try-everything-once plans. Montauk is keeping her plenty busy this summer between decorating wedding cakes and teaching yoga, and busy is good. But busy is also a lonely bed, and that wasn't part of her grand plan.

After a weekend together, his problems and her plans take them in an unexpected direction.

About the Author

Kate Canterbary doesn't have it all figured out, but this is what she knows for sure: spicy-ass salsa and tequila solve most problems, living on the ocean--Pacific or Atlantic--is the closest place to perfection, and writing smart, smutty stories is a better than any amount of chocolate. She started out reporting for an indie arts and entertainment newspaper back when people still read newspapers, and she has been writing and surreptitiously interviewing people--be careful sitting down next to her on an airplane--ever since. Kate lives on the water in New England with Mr. Canterbary and the Little Baby Canterbary, and when she isn't writing sexy architects, she's scheduling her days around the region's best food trucks.

Jordan and April are a match made on Long Island heaven. He's not looking for Ms Right and she's just taking the time to enjoy her life on the island. When the ocean decides they are ready for a meet up, well you can't fool Mother Nature and allow her to take the job over for you. If you are looking for a quick, hot read with a bit of a twist, then this story is RIGHT what you need to get you out of the summer reading slump. Although an interconnected story to Ms Canterbary's Walsh Family, seriously Coastal Elite stands on its own. I loved both characters equally and again completely in love with Kate Canterbary's ability to deliver real characters worth reading. But... I did guess the twist. Which isn't why the 1/2 star reduction. The ending felt too quick. Now here's where I waiver. Was it really too quick? or am I the reader disappointed because I wanted more of the characters story? Yes, the jury is still out as I argue with myself over this one. If you've not read Kate's stories and looking for an introduction, I would say this is a perfect book to read and decided. 4.5 out of 5 stars

Jordan Kaisall is a gruff and grumbly, ex-Navy Seal with a successful security business and no money worries. So why is his life such a mess? Jordan hasn’t really been living–just going through the motions, and his recent ex-girlfriend and mission troubles bring that reality crashing down on him. He heads to his cottage in Montauk to reflect on the current state of his life, and to indulge in a little beach therapy. What he finds there is not at all what he expected, the kind and quirky, April Veach. April is feisty, talented, beautiful, and just what Jordan needs. She smooths his rough edges, and fills the pieces he didn’t even realize he was missing. As Jordan and April are falling fast and hard, no one is more surprised than Jordan when things take an unanticipated turn. Coastal Elite is bit of a departure for the author, and I loved it as much as her other works. She has written the character-centered, feels-inducing story her readers have come to know and love, with a bit of mystery and suspense. The interaction between the characters, and Jordan’s inner dialogue, is witty, sarcastic, and so entertaining. We also get to catch up with Will and Shannon Halsted, such a treat! Coastal Elite is the perfect pick for a weekend read, or lazy afternoon on the beach. Escape to Montauk, you know you want to!

Coastal Elite is the newest from Canterbary. I really loved it. It had a different feel than her other stories, but I enjoyed the direction it’s heading. It’s branching out from the Walshes and you are able to get a different side of this world she’s created.  Jordan is a man. One who does what he needs to do and doesn’t stop till it's done. After walking in on a moment between two douche canoes. He decides a vacation is in order. From there he meets April. I loved these together. They were just truly meant for each other.  This story is full of twists, that you don’t see coming. Those are the best. They keep the page turning. It did take me awhile to finish. Not because it was bad. But because I didn’t want it to be over. That’s always the case with Kate’s books.  I almost feel that Kate could write any kind of genre. She’s mixed this contemporary romance with military and added a little mystery. Placing Coastal Elite on its own pedestal. Overall, I can’t help but give this Five Boundless Stars.

Fabulous New Spin Off to the Walsh Series #COASTAL ELITE Kate Canterbary could write a phone book and I would purchase it. That is how phenomenal she writes! Her stories are full of life, love, angst, passion, intelligence and wit. That is what makes her such a draw every time and what draws me in whenever I sit down to read –I literally cannot stop until the book is finished and that is what happened here with “Coastal Elite”. Coastal Elite is a spin off on the Walsh Family. Jordan is a former Navy SEAL who now owns his own security company while April is an acupuncturist, cake decorator and yoga teacher (busy lady). The tie to the Walsh Family is that Jordan and Will are business partners. Jordan is going thru some issues in his life so off he goes to just recover when he meets April. She is very different from the women who grace his life. She makes him laugh, smile-- Things that were very absent up to that point or were not really seen by Jordan of late. They are so different but yet they connect. April is a very sassy and sweet woman who is outgoing and friendly. Someone whom you immediately connect with. This story is little different than the Walsh Family series but its just as good. There is a bit of mystery/suspense going on in the story involving Jordan which happens toward middle/end of the story. It definitely kept me on my toes. Overall, this is more of Jordan/April story with some spoilers wrapped in this book about previous characters from the Walsh series. I enjoyed the humor, the passion and the angst that comes thru. I connected with the characters and I felt as it these were family members, or good friends I was reading about. That is how good KC writes. I cannot wait to read more spin off books from Ms. Canterbary. My rating: 4.5 stars **** "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***

I loved Jordan and April's story! Kate Canterbary never disappoints! After having the week from hell Jordan decides to take some downtime at his beach home near his best friend and business partner Will. Taking the time to unwind and visit friends before heading back to the daily grind was just what he needed. Meeting April on the beach while a little embarrassing for his ego changed the outlook for his weekend and even into the next week when they seemed to really hit it off. What started out as just a fun weekend soon becomes something more. I was given an ARC from the the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

4.5 Stars! Kate Canterbary brought the feels, a whole lot of sexy and little bit of suspense. She sucked me in right at the start with the sexual innuendo laced witty banter and two characters that were easy to connect with. I loved that Jordan and April's relationship was more than just a sexual connection. She wanted to take care of him and he was more than willing to return the favor. Their relationship for the most part was effortless and it was easy to go with the flow. This story is written in only Jordan's POV, at least until you get to the epilogue. That sort of bugged me at first, but I figured there had to be a good reason for it, and there was. I was also delighted that Shannon and Will made a return appearance and spiced up the conversations. I sort of feel like she outsmarted me with this story too. I had this idea in the back of my mind as to what the twist was going to be. But as the story progressed, I sort of forgot about it because it seemed like that wasn't what was going to happen. Well, the joke is on me because not only did she made me forget about it, she then totally shocked me when that's exactly what happened. That's not an easy thing to pull over on me!

Coastal Elite was different from the others books written by Kate Canterbary. It was a story that moved fast, has suspense, hot love scenes and some unexpected twists. Jordan Kaisall is a former Navy Seal who happens to be in the security business with Will Halsted (from the Walsh series books Cornerstone). After returning home from a long overseas trip he find his so called girlfriend has turned traitor and had his place bugged to get high level security information. What a day! ! Will convinces him to come to Montauk for the weekend to unwind and regroup. While there is meets April Veach, an acupuncturist, cake decorator and jack of all trades. These two are drawn to each other and begin a weekend affair. Unbeknownst to Jordan, April has an agenda so……moving right along….. Will Jordan figure out what’s happening in his company, find where April has gone and will he get his personal life back on track???

Kate Canterbary knocks it out of the park once again with Coastal Elite! Coastal Elite is the story of Jordan Kaisall, former Navy SEAL and April Veach, Jack of all Trades. We meet Jordan at a low time in his life. There are problems everywhere he looks. He takes off for a bit and meets his heroine, April. April is a smart, lovely woman. She is dedicated, hardworking and knows how a lady should be treated. She's a bit off center from Jordan. He's just as dedicated and hardworking, but he doesn't care about much else other than his Mother and his job. Coastal Elite may be a (small) step away from what we are used to from Ms. Canterbary, but it is just as fabulous of a read. The story is smart, well written, and an absolute joy to immerse yourself in. The story moves fast, and you fall in love quick with the witty dialogue, lovable characters, and the girl power Kate Canterbary is known for. I was so excited for this book, and it did not disappoint at all. The love, excitement and touch of suspense bleed off the pages and Coastal Elite is a fabulous step away from Ms. Canterbary's usual work!

This standalone is the first book that isn't part of the Walsh series by this author and it was absolutely amazing!! Jordan was introduced in The Cornerstone, book four of the Walsh series, and is Will's friend and business partner. This story is told almost completely from his POV and that was one of my favorite parts of this book. Jordan is an ex-Navy SEAL who is doesn't make time for much else other than work. But when problem after problem, both personal and professional, keep coming his way, he takes some time away in Montauk to rest and reset. After an epic fail trying to surf, Jordan meets April, an acupuncturist, baker, yoga instructor, and all around jack of all trades. Jordan has never met anyone quite like the woman who can weave sexual innuendo into any conversation and convinces him to try acupuncture and read regency romance. The twist in this book was completely unexpected and had me reading as quickly as possible to find out how it was going to play out. This story had some of everything: heat, hilarity, angst, and suspense. Jordan is pretty much the perfect man; he loves his mom, he's tough, and he's 100% committed to April. April was hilarious and I loved how independent she is. The scenes with Will and Shannon were some of my favorite parts of the book. If you haven't read the Walsh series yet, you should pick them up ASAP!! This story is definite must read!!

**4.5 Stars** Where do I even start with this book? I loved everything about Jordan and April's characters. Kate did an amazing job at describing them and bringing them to life. I was sad when the book ended because I couldn't put it down. I'm already craving for more of Jordan, so I hope we get to see bits and pieces of him again soon. This can be read as a standalone, it mentions characters from the Walsh Family series, but I felt this was entirely a standalone book. Jordan is a former SEAL and Will's business partner (You meet Will in the Walsh Family series, so if you wanted read those and you want to fall in love with him, go read those next). When he returns home from an international trip to his girlfriend in a comprising position with someone who isn't him, he knows he has problems. What he doesn't realize is that this is the beginning to something he didn't know he needed. After being told that he needs some time away, he heads to his property in Montauk to relax for the weekend and see his "brother" Will and his family. This is where things get interesting and Jordan's life will change in a way he didn't know he needed. April has to be the most eclectic character (besides Tiel) I think Kate has written and I LOVED her. There was this mysterious side to her I wanted to know more about and when you find out? Woah. It wasn't what I was expecting. I love how she was with Jordan though. She didn't let him go all "alpha" on her. Their relationship wasn't what I'd call typical l and I think that's why I loved them together even more. I loved Kate's ability to bring Will and Shannon (plus Froggie) into the story as well. I was laughing out loud over nicknames Will would give people and they added to the story in a way that gave you the pieces of Jordan you've wanted since Will became his business partner. I can't wait to see what else Kate brings to us. All I know is I will be one-clicking them as soon as they are available.
