Cocky Player is book 4 in the Rough Riders series, but it can be read as a complete standalone.
The story introduces you to Brenna and Conner. Completely opposite in personalities, these two really know how to burn up the pages with their undeniable, red-hot chemistry and fiery passion. Although their initial attraction brings them together, without either of them knowing who the other is, it’s the sweet, emotional, and compassionate connection they share throughout the story that truly encompasses your heart.
Each character is flawed in their own way. Where one is a timid virgin with lingering PTSD from a traumatic experience in her past, the other is, well, a cocky player. Their relationship progresses from lust to love, flowing perfectly with the dynamic of the storyline. And what really shines in the story is each character’s personal and emotional growth, and how their relationship was build on honesty and trust.
I cannot get enough of the author’s books. Each story is written with finesse and bleeds emotion. Love isn’t easy. Sometimes it’s messy, complicated, and heartbreaking. But the author takes imperfect characters and makes their love story perfect for them.

Connor for the win!!!
Cocky Player is the fourth book in the “Rough Riders’ series. Each book gets hotter and dirtier than the last and boy did this one live up to the previous three’s reputations.
Brenna and Connor were an explosive mix of sweet and OMG sexy as sin.
Connor is the perfect guy, sweet, kind and has a brilliant sense of humour. He made me laugh as much as Brenna. He also managed to make me cry but this guy?? He’ll have you swooning like never before.
Brenna might have been a virgin, but she knew what she wanted once she laid eyes on Connor. Honestly. He never stood a chance, lol.
Great read for a late summer day in the garden, just don’t let the neighbors hear you moaning. ;)

Conner, professional football player for the Rough Riders, is out for a night on the town when he spots Brenna. There’s something about her that catches his eye. She’s not his typical type, but he wants her nonetheless. A night of passion is all Conner wants and needs. With his contract up for renewal, he has to prove himself invaluable to the team so that his contract is renewed. A relationship is out of the question. But there’s something about the “Angel” dancing in his club...
After enduring a horrific experience as a child, Brenna is ready to live a little. She’s spent a lot of time away from her family while attending school. Brenna has lived an extremely sheltered life since the incident and still suffers from panic attacks. While she’s better, she’s still getting used to living life in the public eye. Wanting to be “normal”, Brenna and her best friend go out for a night of dancing and possibly more. While at the club, Brenna locks eyes with Conner and dancing leads to a lot more...When Conner later finds out Brenna is his bosses daughter, Conner believes that Brenna isn’t the “Angel” she claims to be.
I have loved each of Stacey Lynn’s novels, but this is one of my favorites! Brenna’s innocence and drive to be “normal” was so admirable and at times, heart wrenching. Conner’s success and career as a professional athlete oftentimes leads to mistrust. Do people want something from him or do they truly like him for the person he really is? Conner and Brenna’s journey to their HEA wasn’t easy and I think that’s what I liked the most about this novel. It was REALISTIC! They struggled, made mistakes, but ultimately decided Love was worth a shot. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

Decidently Dirty with ALL the Feels Read!!! Oh boy, did this book keep me up late at night reading!!! Loved it, loved it, loved it!!
This is the first Stacey Lynn book I've read and I can't begin to express how much I loved this book. I was blown away by the storyline, the naughty bits, and how well crafted it was.
Connor was the right amount of cocky, detached jock that grew at the right emotional speed and displayed the perfect vulnerability that made him ultra irresistible.
Brenna was also the perfect mix of innocent wrapped with enough sultry sinner to keep Conner's interest, yet just enough emotional stuntness to also grow right along with him.
These two were the perfect combination for their non-relationship/relationship (whatever they were calling it day by day) and it was glorious to watch them both come out of their cocoons. Whether it came to dating or bedroom skills this couple continued to blow me away with how they handled situations.
Their similarities and differences pulled me in and made this a page turner late into the night.
Cocky Player is a must read and can be read as a complete standalone (it was for me since this was my very first, but won't be my last).

Connor is quite use to catching the eye of every woman in the room, his good looks and fame are like beacons to women. But unfortunately it usually draws the attention of the wrong kind if women, the ones who only want what his lifestyle can afford them, and not the man standing in front of them. Which is why is has gotten so good at mastering the one night stand, he's a no feelings and no relationships kind of guy all the way!
While out with his buddies one night at Glitz his eyes happen upon a woman that draws him in like a moth to a flame. His first initial perusal of her leads him to believe she is just like the rest, but after a few heated kisses and some serious unexpected fireworks he can't seem to forget her... and that is something the 'king of one nights' is not a master of!
Cocky Player is a wickedly addictive little page-turner that will reek havoc on your heart, and stir up some serious swoons! Within a matter of minutes of meeting these two they pulled me deep into their forbidden little relationship and had me hanging on their every word, I just couldn't pry my eyes from the pages. Each word was doused in emotion and passion, there is now way you will be able to walk away from this one without feeling something... it's riddled with feels. I have loved every installment in this series, and quickly deemed Oliver's story as my favorite, but I have to say that after meeting Connor my feelings have strayed... Connor was completely irresistible! I have no doubt that you will love what you find between the pages of this one, it's perfectly penned words are good on the heart, and guaranteed to have you reaching for a fan!! Highly recommend!

4.5 Poignant and Steamy Stars!
What a beautiful, poignant and steamy romance! This my first book by Stacey Lynn and it was such a great surprise read for me! Brenna and Connor were so much more than a 'forbidden romance' couple. Brenna had her reasons for seeking out a cocky player like Connor. They had a very sexy first encounter that didn't end the way either had anticipated. But their connection was magnetic and their chemistry was explosive right from the start. Brenna has secrets that frustrate Connor and a history that still haunts her. Connor is envious of the love and support that surrounds her from her friends and family. He never had that growing up and has a hard time showing his feelings. But Brenna brings out a passion and desire to be a better man with her by his side. This story was so beautifully crafted, having a depth I hadn't expected. It was fun and sexy, yet touched on a heartbreaking topic with honesty and empathy, making me care very deeply for these characters. I was totally mesmerized by Brenna and Connors hard fought journey to their HEA and I cheered for them all the way. I really enjoyed this poignant, exhilarating, and steamy romance so much that I need to check out more from this author!
