They're practically strangers until a cross-country road trip turns into a journey toward love...
Josh Neubaum can't wait to get home for Thanksgiving. He's even looking forward to the solo drive from California to Connecticut. A little time off of work, the freedom of the road, and family waiting for him at the other end. It couldn't get any better than that.
But the day before he's supposed to leave, Josh gets a request he isn't in a position to refuse: he'll have to bring the boss's daughter along on his cross-country drive, since she happens to be moving to the East Coast at the same time.
Transporting the stuck up Monica Patel thousands of miles is already torture enough because she stands between Josh and a promotion. But it doesn't help that he thinks she's gorgeous despite her haughty, holier-than-thou attitude. A lot can happen during a week on the road, though...will Josh's attraction to her grow into something much hotter, or will it end up being nothing more than cold comfort?

Cold Comfort is a the fun adventure of two young professionals that are brought together for a cross country trip. Josh Neubaum lives in on the west coast and is taking a long need vacation to visit his east coast family. His boss learns his plans and manipulates him into agreeing to give his daughter Monica a ride. Josh and Monica don't really like each other and each is desperate to escape the other. As they journey together, each learn that their assumptions about each other are false. Will their journey lead to a happily ever after or will it set with the sun? This is a fun travel romance that features two stubborn leading characters, fast paced dialogue, and an interesting plot. I liked how each of the characters matured during the story and am happy to continue reading the series. I was given a free copy for an honest review.
I found Cold Comfort by Audra North to be a light and slightly interesting contemporary romance. The two main characters, soon to be Yale professor Monica Patel, and business consultant Josh Neubaum, are fun at times and replete with lively banter. Both are independent, career driven people that yearn to be recognized for their accomplishments. They end up spending a little less than a week driving cross-country right before the Thanksgiving holiday. Monica and Josh have always been attracted to each other, but never did anything about it. Tons of time in the car and a hotel with only one remaining bed available, allows them to give into their evolving feelings for each other. This was not one of my favorite Audra North books. The novella lacked depth and overtime I stopped caring about the characters. Monica is a very smart 30-year-old woman, but her inability to take hold of her future grated on my nerves. Josh is an intelligent guy and I liked him, but he was just too nice. The love that develops during their trip is what ultimately brings them together. An Enjoyable Read You go along a journey cross country with two characters that find out there is more to the other than originally thought... attraction builds, but what I enjoyed most was the growth of the characters! During their time together, Monica and Josh open up to each other and also learn more about themselves in the process. A happy ending that brought a smile to my face!
