About the Author

Cindy Myers became one of the most popular people in eighth grade when she and her best friend wrote a torrid historical romance and passed the manuscript around among friends. Fame was short-lived, alas; the English teacher confiscated the manuscript. Since then, Cindy has written more than 50 published novels. Her historical and contemporary romances and women’s fiction have garnered praise from reviewers and readers alike.

Not only the case of the serial killer(s) getting edgier with each new victim, now they are targeting the people in the force and their families, and that puts the tale into another level of intensity. Deputy Jamie Douglas has a lot on her plate. She's the guardian of her younger sister who has developmental issues, she is the female deputy of the police force, an avalanche has cut the roads off to the town, and her ex is visiting the town, stuck cause the snow... Jamie is a tough, capable, caring female lead, she is easy to like and admire. She is doing her best with the situation she is in, and even though her attention is required by many different matters, she is trying to keep a cool head. With the Ice Cold killer on loose, everyone with skills to investigate are welcomed to help. Nate Hall jumps into the case, and into protecting Jamie and her sister, who seems to be the next target. I liked how Nate and Jamie work the past hurt and present awkwardness, the feelings they have for each other, and the problems in their personal relations. Nothing comes easy to these two, yet Nate is determined to show Jamie that the seven years apart has changed his focus. He wants to protect her from the killer, yet to respect her as a deputy, he wants to be part of her life again, yet is willing to take the time it takes to win her heart and trust again. This book - and series - is turning out to be binge-worthy material, easy to immerse yourself into while the hunt for the killers continues. The romance stories capture your heart while the tense suspense, and a case that seems a bit overwhelming at times puts everyone in the small town of Denver on danger. Heartwarming romance mixed with intense suspense, a winning combo of entertainment for me! ~ Four Spoons

Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin for the advanced review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Book three in the series. How do I not pay attention and end up in the middle of a series all the darn time? Who knows? I think I just get too excited for the romance and intrigue I just can’t help myself when it comes to requesting these books on NetGalley. Seriously, someone needs to stop me. Jamie works as a sheriff deputy and Nate just moved back to work as a wildlife officer. When she finds another victim of the killer the sheriffs department has been searching for, the two are forced back together to work on the case. Jamie is focused on caring for her sister Donna and had no need for Nate. He left her seven years ago, and she has no desire in dealing with yet another broken heart. The killer is still on the loose and she wants the case solved before there’s another victim. Nate wants them to be friends and Jamie doesn’t want to be at first. She’s closed off from pain after losing her parents and having to take care of her sister. Her life is just fine the way it is. But the pressure of trying to catch the killer is a lot for the town to deal with so Jamie and Nate keep growing closer. I like how they don’t just get back together... it takes a little time because of what happened in the past. This is the third book in the series so I would say start at the beginning to unravel the full mystery of the killer and to get the other romances. This was a pretty decent read, and I wanted to know who the killer was. I can see myself reading more from Myers in the future.
