"Superbly crafted stories like these are the reason romantic suspense is my go-to genre." -USA Today

Enigmatic and aloof FBI profiler Lincoln Frazer falls for a woman hiding dark secrets...

When old evidence turns up on a fresh corpse, ASAC Lincoln Frazer is determined it won't delay the execution of a convicted serial killer. But when more young women are brutally slain, it becomes clear--this new killer is intimately familiar with the old murders.

Former Army Captain Dr. Isadora Campbell concealed a terrible crime. After her mother's death, Izzy resigned her commission and returned to the Outer Banks to raise her rebellious teenage sister. It doesn't take long to realize someone knows exactly what she did, all those years ago.

With pressure mounting to reopen the old case, Frazer will use any means possible to catch the killer. Thrust together during the investigation, he and Izzy find themselves reluctantly attracted to one another, and begin an affair. Izzy's confession of her secret past drives Frazer away as he struggles with her deception. The killer strikes again, and now the race is on to save Izzy, and any chance of a future she and Frazer might have together.

Daphne Du Maurier Award For Excellence In Mystery/Romantic Suspense finalist and Bookseller's Best Award finalist.

About the Author

Toni Anderson is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, RITA® nominee, science nerd, professional tourist, dog lover, gardener, mom. Originally from a small town in England, Toni studied Marine Biology at University of Liverpool (B.Sc.) and University of St. Andrews (Ph.D.) with the intention she’d never be far from the ocean. Well, that plan backfired and she ended up in the Canadian prairies with her biology professor husband, two kids, a rescue dog, and two laid-back leopard geckos. Toni started writing while pregnant with her first child and never stopped. Her greatest achievements are mastering the Tokyo subway, climbing Ben Lomond, snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, and surviving fourteen Winnipeg winters (fingers crossed). She loves to travel for research purposes and was lucky enough to visit the Strategic Information and Operations Center inside FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. in 2016, and she also got to shove another car off the road during pursuit training at the Writer’s Police Academy in Wisconsin. Watch out world!

Toni Anderson does it again. I cannot get enough of the Cold Justice series! Cold Fear takes us to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, an area I call home. I am very pleased with the amount of research Anderson must have done, as a lot of the geographical information in this book is spot on. In Cold Fear we finally get to see a softer, more human side of ASAC Lincoln Frazer which is a pleasant surprise. The re-appearances of main characters from previous books in this series is always welcome and exciting and is what has really made this particular series so hard to put down. Although each book is a love story (though don't underestimate how action packed they are), each love story is very unique and plays off of the different personalities of the many characters. I can't wait to read the rest of this series. I would highly recommend starting from book one, you won't regret it.

Toni Anderson does it again!!!! Toni continues to develop strong characters that are strong but are slightly flawed, FBI agent Lincoln Frazer and Dr. Isadora Campbell are no exception. Cold fear grabs you from the very first pages and the macabre twists and turns keep you turning the pages until the end. This chapter of the series is set on the stunning coast of North Carolina, where a beach attack on 2 local teens leads to a more sinister uncovering of a connection to one of Agent Frazier’s old cases. This is an exceptional read, if you have not yet discovered this authors books, I would suggest that you do yourself a favor and check them out – you will not be sorry. Thanks Toni cannot wait for the next one!

Ive been reading several from this series and have really enjoyed them. I like that there is something more to the characters. Its not rushed and not full of cheesy fluff. However I had a hard time connecting with these two. I cant put my finger on why butni just didnt like the female MC. Will continue to look for more from this author jh

“She’d do whatever he wanted to save her dog or her sister.” Cold Fear by Toni Anderson is a suspenseful murder mystery set on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It’s the fourth installment in the author’s Cold Justice series and my first Toni Anderson book. It’s primarily a pulse-pounding whodunit thriller with the romantic element secondary. The story kept me on the edge of my seat throughout hoping that the killer would be found quickly while dreading another victim. I’m not going to bore you with a description as you can derive that from the book’s blurb. The opening scene is quite emotional and very sad. The story is told from multiple points of view including that of the killer. The killer’s thought processes are deeply disturbing and brutal multiplying the horror aspect of the tale. ASAC Lincoln Frazer and former Army Captain Dr. Isadora “Izzy” Campbell are the main featured characters. They are well-written and developed as being likable, driven, efficient, genuine and smart. However, I had issues with both. Without going into specifics, Izzy withholds critical evidence that wastes days of valuable law enforcement time while women are horribly dropping like flies. In her defense, she committed the initial atrocious deed while she was a minor and under extreme duress. But, her whys and wherefores for withholding the information are rehashed over and over which makes those parts of the story drag. Izzy should have disclosed the information long before now, but she holds back the info now because she fears repercussions. I had a hard time digesting this seeing how Izzy is a doctor and privy first-hand to the horrors being perpetrated. To be fair, I also found the hero’s reaction to Izzy’s confession to be deplorable. He was the opposite of supportive while she was obviously experiencing such trauma reliving her childhood experience. I’m obviously in the minority with this opinion, so please take it with a grain of salt. Other than the above issues, I liked the characters and the story. The chemistry between Frazer and Izzy was great and their few sex scenes were well done. I listened to the audio edition. It marked my first time listening to anything voiced by Eric G. Dove. He did a very good job with the narration. His voice was smooth, easy on the ears and clearly and purposefully articulated. The end product was polished and professional. I would not hesitate to pick up another of his works based upon this narration. I jumped into this series with this installment – which is the fourth in the series. The story seemed to work well as a standalone. Overall, I enjoyed this book and never considered not finishing it. The identity of the murderer remained elusive until the surprising twist of an ending. The story was extremely emotional and riveting. That said, I read to escape and prefer my mode of entertainment to include a bit more romance and less descriptive, too-real, hard-core violence. If you fancy heart-pounding fear, chills and fright with your thrillers, this action-packed read could be your nirvana. My full review is published at Reading Between the Wines Book Club. This author has always been able to pull me in, keep me guessing as she entertaining me to no end. Between the author and narrator this was a hard to put down I wanted to know how it ended. Serial killers have always got my attention this is the next best thing to a true read. Trying to understand the who and why is mind blowing. Ms. Anderson pulls you in with her very talented mind as the narrator hooks you with his smooth voice painting a story of mystery and death leaving you second guessing who the killer or killers are. Just when you think you have it worked out and you say that is just to easy no way...the author talks you into believing what she has setup for you only to find your first thought was true. It was to easy and you might need to do a little more looking. I can honestly say I never saw that coming, would have never guessed it. Frazer has always been one of my favorite characters throughout this series. He is strong, alpha, will a wonderful attitude. He is a tough cop who doesn't give up easy and always gets his person. It was nice to see him get his own story. He does however need to deal with his past as the author brings more of it to life in this read you come to understanding him better. Not only does he have his handful with Izzy along with the killer and some teens that are working through their own issues. This is one cop that toes the line all but one time. Even years later he is still dealing with this which will get in his way with Izzy and her secret. Ones past has a way of coming back to bite you on your butt as he will find out when all of Izzy past comes back to haunt her. He is going to have to decide if love can out weather the fall out when the past comes knocking. Izzy has been haunted by her past and it is about to come back in a big way. She walked away years ago but with her mother dying she must come home to help take care of her sister. Teens can be so trying on their best days but her sister is hell-bent on making bad decision. Getting even with the popular girls will be her down fall in many ways the bigs is losing her best friend. As Izzy does her best to help her sister through some very trying times she must also face her past while trying to find out who the killer is and why they have come back after all these years. Danger is all around is there no stopping this killer? What about her new founded relationship with Frazer will he still want her when he finds out her secret? I was drawn to Ms. Anderson's book from the very first book. She deliveries a bang from the first page that pulls you in and holds you throughout the read. Her stories are very believable with all that is going on in the world it isn't hard to believe this could or has really happened. This series revolves around states and place I know well which is an added bonus for me. This is one author that has done her research well knowing the places this series takes place it is easy for me to know she given great thought to the plot and the place she has built it around. She always keeps you guessing as to who the killer is. You must look deep and give much thought before you can pick him out. I have to say I am always surprised when he is revealed never guessing to who it is. Ms. Anderson is another of my go to authors when I want thrills, adventure and excitement she never lets me down. The sex is hot as two people find their way and could be torn apart when things come out.

Well...she did it again! What a great book. Frazer is such a hard working guy who needs/deserves a love life. Isadora is an ER doctor who has held a horrible secret for years & is now trying to parent her 17 year old rebellious sister. The two are thrown together when her sisters best friend is murdered. They are instantly attracted but both have their own reasons for ignoring that until it reaches the boiling point. Izzy knows her secret will eventually tear them apart but she doesn't know that someone else already knows her secret...Wow!!! Although this is the 4th in this series, to me each one of these are individual stories that stand alone, with their own uniqueness & have not been predictable. They are so detailed & interesting that I'm reading every free minute I get to see what happened next, the suspense quickly hooks me & the author does a great job telling the story without veering off-track & including previous characters without them overtaking the new story.

J: This one was pretty hard to read. Not entirely the author's fault; the subject matter was very disturbing. I had to skip over the most distasteful parts just to be able to finish the story.

I really enjoy Anderson's books and could not wait for this book to be released. Ms. Anderson did not disappoint me in this, the fourth book in the Cold Justice Series, Cold Fear. I loved it! I felt the relationship between the two main characters started slow, but definitely heated up nicely crumbling Frazier's walls and overcoming Izzi's mysterious past. With the twists and turns Ms. Anderson kept me guessing and second guessing the identity of the villain all the way up to the end of the story. Well done, Ms. Anderson! Well done! I highly recommend this book.

Toni Anderson has done it again. Cold Fear is a gripping and suspenseful tale that held my attention to the very end. The story is about a new crime that collides with old evidence of a notorious criminal who is in a death row list. FBI agent Lincoln Frazer is quick to act to make sure the killers are off the street; to make sure the offenders get a taste of justice. Dr. Isadora Campbell has a deep dark secret, and the recent killings are slowly pushing her secret to the surface. As Lincoln and Isadora reluctantly starts to get attracted to each other, the secret Isadora holds threaten to shatter their chance to be together.I have been a loyal reader of Toni’s works for a long time. The hero and heroine are realistic--with their strengths and flaws that make them human. The story is well developed, giving Lincoln and Isadora the time to grow feelings for each other. Their relationship doesn’t feel rushed. At first, I had a hard time liking Lincoln. He seems too detached and cold. But beneath that icy demeanor, he’s actually a tormented soul. Isadora finally could get past his sturdy wall and brings out the other side of Lincoln that is more likeable. The crimes are believable. I feel like I was in the middle of a murder investigation. Toni skillfully writes detailed terms that are used in a real investigation. It makes Cold Fear more than just a fiction. The plot is twisted several times, and it keeps me guessing who the real bad guy is.Some depictions are quite disturbing. Cold Fear is heavy on plot, peppered with romance. The story concludes with a satisfying end. There are several references to the previous books in the series. Although you can read Cold Fear as a standalone book, I suggest you read from the first installment to make the reading smoother and more enjoyable. If you love your suspense book rich with plots and believable characters, Cold Fear is for you.
