Two children struggle to survive alone in the Adirondack mountains in this riveting story for “adventure lovers of all ages”(Columbus Dispatch).

“What I want to tell you is about Timothy and me, about that time in 1921, when we were lost for three months in the northern Adirondack Mountains, in the dead of winter...”

Young Lizzy Allison and her brother Timothy are left frightened and alone when their father dies in the frozen Adirondacks. Battling the untamed perils of nature, withstanding the fierce and bitter elements, and confronting the deadly instincts of man, two desperate children embark on a heart-stopping journey of courage, strength, and endurance against all odds.

I loved this book when I was a teenager, but that was before 500 TV channels and everyone having a computer. I am buying this book for my children, because I remember being mesmerized by the way the characters solved various dilemas. If you like the outdoors I think you could survive in the mountains just by reading this book. The scenery descriptions are well worth the read.

Cold River by William Judson is a well written story about the survival of two characters Tim and Lizzy. They both have to survive in the Adirondack Mountains after their father dies. The book was well-written, and follows an outstanding plot. The ending leaves the reader with a cliff-hanger. The book goes by very fast but it is great to read. I gave the book a 4/5 because it goes by very fast and the ending kind of ruins the whole story.

This book was very boring!! All they talked about was how they were going to get food. Also they didn't really have anything to write about. The author should had made it more interesting.

I learned and enjoyed when they were explaining on how they made browse beds. It is, to me, the most interesting part of the story. I give it five stars because I believe this was the best lesson to learn for the country.

The Cold River, by William Judson, was a story of survival. The main characters, Lizzy and Tim must survive in the wilderness of the Adirondacks. Their father plans a canoeing trip, but take a wrong turn and get on the wrong river. They decide not to turn back and find the right trail and continue on. The canoe tips after going over rapids, and their father gets pnuemonia and dies. The novel of realistic fiction is about their struggle to get home. This story had a entertaining middle section, but the ending left you hanging by not following up on what happened afterword with much detail. It ended too quickly. That is why I only gave this novel 3 stars. The quick ending almost ruins the story.

This book is about the Adirondacks, where I live. The author writes really descrpitive scenes, which makes it interesting to read and it prevents people from getting bored with the book. He was really descriptive about the characters and made them seem real. I recommend this book to anyone who likes outdoor adventure.

This book was very interesting and I found it easy to read. It was a book I liked to read, and I never found myself bored with it. I liked the author's detail about the surrounding area. He also included a good amount of information about the characters.
