About the Author
Tom "Dizzy" Chisholm was born in Boston, Massachusetts August 13, 1928 to Canadian emigrant parents, Frank and Mary (née Tonary) Chisholm. He was the fourth child among four sisters, Clare, Catherine, Grace, and Christine. Though Tom spent a lot of time in Nova Scotia visiting family, he is a true Bostonian. He grew up in Dorchester, attended St. Peter's School, worked first at the Old Corner Bookstore (still standing proud on the Freedom Trail!), then at Braves Field, and Fenway Park. In his spare time, Dizzy and the boys played football for the Dorchester Gaels in the Boston Park League. They practiced at Ronan Park, played home games at Town Field. Tom then joined the Navy in 1949 serving on the U.S.S. Saufley as a fire control technician. He eventually studied electronics which led to a successful career. He married Malvana Allen in October 1961. Together they had four daughters, and now have five granddaughters. Mr. Chisholm is now retired and living in Florida with his wife of over 50 years.
