Mr. Delbanco did a great job with this, but I felt he could have done better. I'd expound on my review a bit, but I doubt people read these anyway.

This new book is a definite must-read for anyone concerned about the state and health of our private and public colleges/universities. The value of a college education is still necessary, as is the growth process afforded students who physically attend these institutions. Written in a no-nonsense fashion, this book is applicable for students approaching college age; parents; higher education professors, instructors, and administrations; and anyone interested in and concerned about college.

This up to date book is hands down the most honest and objective view on college that I've ever read. It's the exact opposite of any Princeton Review that must students and families oddly aw at; Delbanco's approach in this book is simple. Unlike the rankings or reviews of thousands of colleges, he organizes the book, not in lists, but in concepts of the past, present and future of college education. Perfect for families that are looking for a more personalized touch on what their son / daughter is about to get themselves into for the next four years. If you have a question about college, Delbanco skillfully breaks it down to give you answers.
